Does any one know where a person can get a decent price on bulk .223 ammo?

I have a new toy, and need 500-1000 rounds ASAP. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Times are tough right now. Might be best off hitting guns shows. People that I know that go to them say to go early. Relodaing supplies and ammo are a hot item right now. Everyone I know is stocking up big time.

That will get you through the first few minutes on the range. Unless it isn't an AR, then that much ammo should last a very long time.

Thanks for the phone number Corey. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

I just spent last Friday, Saturday, & Sunday sitting at my table selling firearms a local gun show. Firearms were selling very well, ammo was in short supply.

I did manage to pick up a few rounds at a decent price. But then one can never have too many rounds! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Tom, it is an AR-15. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Corey,

This is the one I will be shooting when I get my scope on it. I had to order a 3/4“ riser for it.

You bet Ron! Love the camo, I bet she will be a sweet shooter! I am currently looking into a left hand model just incase I can't buy one in a few months. Don't tell the Mrs. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Not sure if youre just looking for something cheap to shoot or the best performance you can find but if its the later of the two you should really look at Black Hills 69g.sierra matchkings, they come without the molly also. This is what I found to shoot best in my Savage 10FP with a 1-8" twist. That gun straight out of the box with this ammo has out shot every other gun me or my buddies have shot, custom or factory. The ammo seems to be a perfect match for that twist rate heres a link. Right now Im shooting some 60g. moly coated V-max that I have leftover from a prairiedog trip and theyll shoot a 100yd group 5shots touching but the 69g.'ers will do the same but with one slightly wollowed hole.

How's that Remington shoot? I'm in the market and am torn between the Bushmaster and Remingon. I'd love to get a DPMS but go figure, in the town where the company is (used to be) based I can't get my hands on one for 16 months!!!

Remington AR-15

I mounted the scope on my Remington AR-15 this morning and bore sited it in with the Bushnell Magnetic Bore Sighter. This bore sighter design eliminates the need for arbors, it magnetically attaches to the muzzle to facilitate a quick sighting in.

I them went to the shooting range and set up my shooting bench and sandbags. My target was set up at 25 yards so I could check the zero of the firearm. I made less than a dozen shots and had this firearm printing five shot groups that a dime would cover. I was impressed to say the least. Hornaday 68 grain BTHP, Remington brass, Winchester primers, & IMR 4198 powder.

Again at 25 yards I tried ten shots of a factory loaded 55 grain FMJ BT and found the group to be somewhat larger. These two groups could be covered by a nickel.

Shooting and AR type firearm isn’t new to me by any means. I had one in my hands almost constantly from 1969-1971. But I must say the trigger pull on this Remington is as sweet as they come; not at all like the M-16 rifle.

My next trip to the range I will be shooting at distances of 100-250 yards. This AR should be a great varmint gun.
