Anyone hunt with a trad. muzzleloader?

I built 1 kit about 3 years ago, before that it was always a manu. rifle, now i just build my own. I built/rebuilt a CVA kentucky for my 7yo daughter, I built an early fullstock Hawken in .50 and also have a .62 barrel for it(this is the rifle I shoot all the time) I have built 3 pistols, a...

    NEF 10 gauge

nannyslayer, The SP 10 or NEF not being meat friendly? I havent had a prob with the SP10, I use a pattermaster choke, ive had that since 94, and we like em close. But I use 2's and BB's. I have used 3's for early season, and teal have a hard time flying through that.

Anyone hunt with a trad. muzzleloader?

All this talk of inlines and such, has me feeling a little outnumbered. Anyone hunt with a traditional ML, either flint or cap, and does anyone build thier own?

    NEF 10 gauge

I had one a long time ago, It is heavy enough, recoil really wasnt an issue. I have had and used an SP10 since 1993, for ducks, geese and turk, I will never leave that one at home for D&G, though this season it is retiring from turkey hunting, as I am into the blackpowder deal, and at this point...

    .45 or .50

I jave 2 barrels for my main shooter. A .50 that I shoot in comp all summer and this year I built a .62, I did hunt deer with it this year, but I mainly built that for a board cutter and elk. But the big bore makes a big hole and offers a VERY quick clean kill. But I am a trad. shooter and only...

    hunting with an assult rifle

In the early days, that was one of the main dif. betwen teh M16 and the AR15, 16 had the forward assit, Ar15 did not. But this was back when I was in the military. Now 20 years later the FA is pretty much on standard on most of them. The bolt carrier is also a major dif. as the AR15 bolt carrier...

    hunting with an assult rifle

A piece of history, the AR-15 was a civilian rifle BEFORE the military tested and adopted it as a replacement for the m-14. The AK was around for a long time befor ethe AR15/M16. Actaully the first "assault" rifle was the german STG44 at teh tail end of WWII, AK became widespread and adopted by...

    favorite muzzleloader load

I also know a couple of guys that shoot 2 and 4 bores that dont use 350 gr of powder. Is this a fantasy gun, or a home built? And how much extra ooommph do you need? I punch through a deer(both sides) with only 90grains

    favorite muzzleloader load

Thats funny, I shoot a .610 roundball, and they weigh (with pure lead) 342 grains. Putting a sttel coating on them, would A. be a really neat trick, B, would do nothing for weight as lead is far heavier than steel. and since the melting point of steel is far greater than lead. SInce lead is...
