Glad to see I wasn't the only one who had my cowpeas crushed! Look forward to having 7 deer in one pic before too long! I've had 4 a bunch of times but that's the max so far.
Nice work on the texas plots!

Well we had our first frost Monday night as it hit a balmy 28*. I know, not cold for Iowa.
Cowpeas are toast and the winter peas look about 50/50. Clover and rye are still going strong. Farmer is fixing to take his 10 ac of soybeans pretty soon. Already overseeded about 35# of rye in the bean...
Brassicas are coming in nice! Had our first frost Monday night as it hit 28*. Looks like they may be starting to hit them. Just put up the camera on that plot so we'll see.
Thanks,
Tim
Finally got a good shot of my cowpea/winter pea/clover mix. Really coming in great but as you can see they are really focusing on the cowpeas. You can see the area to the right is void of them as they are moving their way across the plot. Looking forward to seeing how they respond after first...
Hopefully the deer will start moving more as the weather gets cooler. It's been in the 80s the last couple weeks but a "cold" front just came through so it looks like it'll be cooler for a while.
Yeah, we have a ton of soybeans in the county so maybe that's it. We'll see as it gets colder what...
Two days until rifle opens up here. Been able to get out a few days with the bow but haven't seen a thing except two doe who were able to see me first.
Got some pics of the plots while I was down there confirming the rifles. They are hitting the winter peas/cowpeas/clover mix pretty well...
Checked on some of my brassicas before heading to my bow stand. Doesn't look like they are hitting them yet but they are really coming in nice! I'm going to move a camera over to watch this plot this week. Look forward to pics of it getting munched on.

I wish I had access to a drill. I'll probably give it a couple more weeks and then plant the rye/clover if the plots cleared by then. Have a smaller, about 1/10 acre, plot not 100m away and it hasn't even been touched. Sure they'll be hammering it soon enough.
Thanks,
Tim
Think I'm losing my first food plot to deer. Checked on one of my bigger one, about 1/4 acre, and a lot of sign and very little green left. :( If it ends up getting trashed, I still have time to plant clover and winter rye. Plus it's right next to a really nice brassica strip. ;)
Will the...
Based off of reading all this stuff and trying to adjust for NC weather and soil, my spring plantings were going well but then I got trapped in school worked and lost the plots to weeds. Lesson learned. Did a lot of weed control leading up to this fall and did an abbreviated version of your mix...
Well it took me a while but I've read most of the threads in your info filled corner of the internet. Amazing stuff and I REALLY appreciate all the info. After two yrs of struggling to figure out food plots(not my fault! I was dropped a lot as a child) I found this delicious plethora of info...
