Any advantage to call during the late season? I have heard a lot about the secondary rut and didn't know if calling and or rattling would be of any use. Thoughts?

I set up a new stand in a river bottom near a bedding area. Thinking about hunting the same area from the ground too, we'll see how it plays out.

I usually only hunt private land so i dont worry about this but this week I am visiting family and plan on hunting some public ground. When you are bowhunting public ground do you wear orange? Just worried that some idiot is going to shoot anything that moves.

Sat from 12-330 today. Lots of movement. Had a big 10 chasing off the little guys and trying to pin down does. Great action, hope I get a shot at the big boy tomorrow!

Was in the stand from 6-9 this morning in NE Iowa. One nice buck came in to grunts and some rattles, no shot unfortunately though. He was the only thing I saw moving all morning.

Thoughts on tomorrow morning? Plan on being in the stand early hoping the rain gets bucks moving early.

I feel for ya. Shot a nice buck this morning, arrow passed clean through with blood from tip to tip. Followed lots of blood for a good mile and then the trail just ends. I worked a grid with some buddies for the last 8 hours and nothing. Really frustrating!! Gonna look for him tomorrow but...

I really like hunting from the ground. It allows you to find a spot with the right wind if your stand doesn't have it. Pretty cool to be eye to eye with a deer too. Toughest thing for me is to find a seat that allows you to draw back without making any noise while still staying concealed...
