We don't have any plots near our cows but 90% of our pastures border cropfields such as corn and hayfields are all one barb electric fences. We use a Parmak electric fencer with a car battery once a month Dad switches out the battery. He has 4 of these. They are red hot, it will knock you to your knees. Our cows definitely respect the fence. Sometimes its hard to move them from pasture to pasture because there afraid to go though where the gate is.
We have a lot of deer on the farms and Dad checks them every two days,or after storms, and during calving season. The coyotes are after the afterbirth and get the cows all worked up and about once a season they will get spooked and go through them.
Otherwise the only real problem with wires on our farms is that the smaller calves will go under them. Good Luck!
