I've just plain stopped shooting does, I only shoot mature bucks. I've been pretty successful, you know shooting 3 bucks over 147" and what not. Thing is, I'm seeing the damage I've done. I've filled all of my any-sex tags in my life on a buck. I've never not filled an any-sex tag (might not fill one this shotgun season), but I've seen the damage killing too many bucks can do now. The neighbors killed 18 bucks. I'm seeing 12-15 does per buck now. I'm thinking that there's going to be very few mature bucks for the next few years and might even take a break on hunting here in Iowa. I had 16 up and comers...half of those bucks are confirmed dead already. Just the flip side to what somebody was saying, you need bucks too.
