What would make my alfalfa turn white in spots

Look and see if the roots r severed.
Would b caused by freezing ground pushing up and that is what pulls the roots apart.
 
Looks like frost damage. Also notice the flea beetle damage too. Often the frost "sweetens" the foliage and attracts the beetles.
 
The damage seems to be getting worse? It is nowhere near as green as last yr. My ph is still low I know but do you think it’s still frost damage or flea beetle ? Here are a few pictures
