I am considering putting up an electric fence this year for a small food plot area maybe 1/4 acre at most and don't know much about it at this point. Wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a good solar powered unit and what size would be best. Right now tractor supply has an American Farm Works, 10 mile unit on sale for only $10 more than the 5 mile American Farm Works one. Would these be overkill, or would it be worth it to have the extra power? Do they tend to only last a few years? Thanks.

Me three on the Gallagher recommendation. I have one non-Gallagher that has been fine too, but can't remember the brand. If I were to buy more, I would stick with the Gallagher's.
