    What has hunting become???

I've been pondering this for a few years also. This is how I see it. A fellow hunter says he is the best. Killed 180" buck with an 18x scope on a Winchester .308 at 300 yds from an enclosed blind. Next guy says nope, I'm better. Did the same from an open tree stand. Next guy says nope I'm...

    Chinese Balloon in US airspace?

It was this strange explosion today near Billings that caused people to think we shot it down. However, I think the Montanna balloon is now over Missouri. https://www.ktvq.com/news/-viral-video-captures-possible-explosion-in-air-near-billings

    Disheartening

My favorite enclosed blind has a big sliding window, a very comfy chair, 65"inch television, 250 mps fiber optic internet service, 80,000 BTU furnace, and even has running water. I've seen thousands of deer I could have shot. However, I have never and will never shoot a deer from inside my...

    Bowmars

I agree with you, but on the flip side I now recognize these dirt bags whereas I didn't before this thread. Updated and informed I will never accidentally buy a product of there's and fund their crimes.

    Shot placement study

Here's my takeaway.... 1) Yes, shoulder is off limits with an arrow. 2) All the pins shown are deer that needed help finding. Notice where there are only 2 pins. Kill zone is right where it always was. Slip an arrow in where it belongs and you won't need any help finding it.

    COVID messed up everything!

Since the start of COVID, I have seen 2 Novembers with little rut activity. I've seen sparring and hard chasing on January 9th. I have seen a 6" tree shredded in Early September. I've seen bucks sporting full antlers on April 28. Tonight, my son thought he filled an antlerless tag on a big...

Let’s Eat! (The Ishi legacy thread)

Great question. Not a crock pot. It was just one of those cheap ($17 at Walmart) roaster pans. Conventional oven at 200 for 9 1/2 hrs. It was also a shoulder from a 2 year old doe. I don't shoot those freakishly large deer like you do so I also don't need a Ramsey kitchen to cook them...

Let’s Eat! (The Ishi legacy thread)

Oh my!! This is unbelievable! Reminiscent of grandmas pot roast. Steve Rinella said deer front shoulder is probably the most abused piece of meat on the planet (grinder). I was a skeptic but not anymore. Check this out.

Let’s Eat! (The Ishi legacy thread)

Trying something new today. Whole front shoulder, spice rub overnight, seared this morning in flour and butter, laid on a bed of bacon, with a loose bacon blanket. Added sauted mushrooms, onion and garlic cloves, and topped with potatoes, carrots and broccoli and cover roast 3/4 with beef...
