    Shot some Dinosaurs

I was so poor as a kid, if I bent an arrow, I'd try n straighten it. Lol. Memory lane::. Just guessing but early 80s, I just HAD to have a dozen XX75 Orange shafts. I mowed yards, cleaned up dog chit, picked weeds, whatever it took to make the 40.00$ so I could buy them. Finally had enuff $ and...

What was your very first foodplot experience?

My first attempt was a 1/4 acre DER plot. Was a grassy spot on a ridge. I spayed, mowed and tilled it. Did not know anything about fertilizer so none went on. I spread 10lbs on that 1/4 acre. Grew the thickest stand of purple/ yellow leafed plant you ever seen. Heck, I didn't know and...

    Shot some Dinosaurs

I haven't shot aluminum arrows for 25 years? Howev3r, I have shot piles of deer with them. Maybe I'm being nostalgic or just am getting old and loosing some memory but, I swear (I think) that the sound an aluminum arrow makes is different then a carbon arrow makes when going through a...

    Shot some Dinosaurs

Visted with an old bowhunting buddy this morning. On a shelf in his garage was 6 XX75s 2216s from the early 90s. He asked if I wanted them. Sure. Was just looking them over 1/2 hour ago. 2 had slight bends so I screwd on 125g heads on 4, took out my bow with I haven't shot in 6 months, shot...

Agree 83. Being accepted as part of the " herd" is a huge benefit.

    What to do

Not offering an opinion as it's seems I struggle to find the right steps myself. I'm trying to embrace the mowing method over spraying.

Thanks Skip. I always enjoy your input. Should add, I don't use smoke to " cover up" my scent (clothes), truly believe after a good washing in a heavy smoke, it neutralizes any foreign odors. The natural smoke smell is a bonus. I know there are some very dedicated/ great hunters on this site. Be...

Looking out my back window now. That small foodplot down the lane is about 120 yards. Important, that lane faces due N.E. Have watched 1000s of deer go through it over the years. ( yes, most are the same deer) Come October through spring time, I heat with wood. Any variation of a SW wind...

    Weeds

Very little clover. Mostly weeds. I don't want to kill the weeds if I don't have to as it's still 6/ 7 weeks away until I plant brassicas and I don't feel that killing them and have everything bare black dirt would be beneficial to the soil for that long.

    Weeds

Fellas. Question for you. I've got 2, 1/4acre fields tucked in the woods that get good sunlight for 1/2 the day. Had clovers in them last year (Imperial Whitetail) junk! They came in good last year but now they are less then half of what they should be. I'm planning on turnips/ radishes...

    Wierd experience this morning.

Skip, not sure what its intent was? Guessing just curious but typically, farm county bears aren't real curious about people. HardWoods, the no quota zone is where I have h7nted every year since 1991. Also used to hunt yearly in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Bear is my favorite game meat...

    Wierd experience this morning.

Got permission from a family member to put in a foodplot on his property. Started working on it 2 weeks ago. Went to check a cam this morning and on the way back to my truck, a medium sized bear popped out and started following me. Now, I've been hunting bear for over 40 years and have killed...
