    This is from a farm I own in Western MN , maybe 30 miles from the ND/SD line. It’s in the flyway for waterfowl. I had a camera there just to for pics of pheasants, deer etc.. but it got tipped up & captured some cool duck & aerial predator pics …Date is accurate, year is 2026.

    Otter problems?

    Otters are common up here in Minnesota. The county to my north is Otter Tail . They can be hard on a small body of water … no doubt . I see them on my cameras and by my dock .

    There’s pros & cons to each season. In my area of Western IA the first season can have some extended rutting. There seems to be be fewer hunters & not as many deer drives. The second season can be colder and the season is longer … more guys out and about . If it’s cold, both seasons are good…...

    From 8:30-9:30 I can catch walleyes off the dock . They come in and chase shiners. I release most of them, but kept 3 for a meal . Delicious!!

    In Minnesota we have created a lot of habitat for winter survival…shelterbelts near the edges of cattail swamps . L shaped tree lines with a mix of spruce, cedar, plum, chokecherry, crab apple etc… with a food plot that borders it . Willow, dogwood, it all spreads and gets thick ! It’s worked...

    Pheasants (roosters) are strutting around everywhere in Minnesota. They survived the winter pretty well !
