    Bad ice

Went out for an hour this afternoon. Probably go out one last time tomorrow morning. Had to be very careful. Let the big boys go. Kept a handful of 8 inchers for supper.

    Transplants

Last year I planted 500 cedar plugs end of March to beginning of April. I had something dig a bunch of them back up. Not sure if it was squirrels or coons. Didnt look like the did anything to them other than pull them out of the ground.

    Feed deer

I see your in eastern iowa. Bjornsen pond management in cedar rapids sells the Texas hunter brand. We have their fish feeders and have had good luck. I bought a gravity feeder for deer instead of a programmed one. Went back and forth on it but settled on a banks feeder.

Theisens in vinton had the molasses but the highest phosphorous percentage I could find in any mineral was 6 percent. It was called stockade super 6.

    ISO Shingle Oaks

Awesome. I will have to hit you up before fall. They drop later than most, right?

    ISO Shingle Oaks

For oaks, our property is 90 percent burr oak. 5 percent pin oak and 5 percent black oak. Just trying to get as many different species as I can for diversity. Shingle oaks don't really exist here.

I would love to get some shingle oak acorns this next fall if somebody knows where I can buy some.

“I SHOULD BE ABLE TO HUNT MY LAND AS NR EVERY YEAR!!!”

All I am saying is that if a person is shooting a buck they should need to have a buck tag for that season. Just my opinion.

“I SHOULD BE ABLE TO HUNT MY LAND AS NR EVERY YEAR!!!”

Yes, I think it should be stopped for residents as well as nonresidents.

“I SHOULD BE ABLE TO HUNT MY LAND AS NR EVERY YEAR!!!”

That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is guys are buying a doe tag for the shotgun seasons, and hunting in parties with other guys with buck tags where anybody in the group can shoot bucks as long as the group still has buck tags. What I proposed was if your tag is just a doe tag for that...

“I SHOULD BE ABLE TO HUNT MY LAND AS NR EVERY YEAR!!!”

At the very least you need to have a license, not a tag if party hunting, for the deer you shoot. I always thought that was the way it was supposed to be, but have since learned I was wrong. I know a lot of people abuse this and it sucks. Nothing to stop shotgun groups for strategizing where...

    Cold weather activities/trapping

Practicing my new bow in the basement. Figured out I can set up a target at 19.5 yards and practice down there. Going to shoot in a techno-hunt league starting this week with a buddy. Guessing he will have to carry me. Lol

    Feed deer

I set up a feeder for the first time yesterday, but ran out of daylight before I got it filled. Still have 1.5 acres of standing corn and close to 4 acres of standing beans so I think what deer we have left will be ok, at least I hope.

    Soybeans

As far as corn sprays, you can spray all of the good stuff except atrazine. Atrazine makes the good stuff work a lot better.

    Soybeans

What herbicide program are you going to spray your corn with? If you are spraying something with callisto or a similar product I wouldn't worry a bit.

Buying used 3 pt. Tree Planter??

I thought I wanted one before too. I am now using a different approach after reading countless threads on here. I am using the advice of the guys that said only plant as many trees as you can protect. Hoping it pays off in the end because it feels like it is taking forever. It seems planting...
