    Out of velvet

Yeah, I thought about what it would take to have a velvet season in Iowa, no thanks.

    Genetics or same buck?

Yeah, the date on the trailcam is whacked. Those cams have GREAT battery life, decent range, decent image quality for a cheap camera, but the date constantly corrupts. Two weirdly reset to 4/24/25 while deployed, which makes me think it's a specific programming flaw over a random event.

    Genetics or same buck?

I figured the buck that shed this antler was old. The buck in the trailcam pic doesn't look real old to me, so guessing genetic trait in the area over same deer?

What kind of oak tree is this?

I think I might order a Bette's from Morse Nursery to get a jump start on the tree. They have a couple other varieties that caught my eye. I'd rather buy a 60" tree and baby it than start from acorn. Probably be less work in the long run and be met with better success. If you do pick up...

    Tractor parts?

Theisen's in Tipton has a better supply of parts than the store in Coralville, only makes sense when you look at their customer base. Tipton more ag/rural.

    Tractor parts?

I lost a pin on a tree puller earlier this spring and couldn't find what I wanted at TSC or Thiesen's, so I bought a pin and a large washer that I welded over one end. Had a mower deck spindle repaired at Charlie's Welding yesterday. Half price of buying OEM new. He had bearings on hand for it...

    Tractor parts?

McMaster Carr is not really tractor parts but offers a lot of parts, valves and assemblies. A local machine shop I've used in the past orders from them frequently.

    Back in bees?

I found a mentor and he was back out yesterday morning. I worked the hives at his direction. One hive needed feeding and I started that this morning. The other hive was going gang buster yet we took out a brood chamber section. Came home after work and there were tons of bees on the outside of...

Drone seeding 2 acres near oskaloosa?

I see parallels to hiring a blood trailing dog. Maybe the fee structure could be the same.

    Flail Mower on a SkidLoader

Pulled a flail mower chopping corn stalks with a IH 560 in the late '70's and still wince thinking about the cobs hitting me in the back of the legs. Hopefully things are designed better these days.

    What county?

Wonder where the county I grew up in would rate: Tama county. Seen some really nice deer there when I grew up, but it flies under the radar. Little to no public and the landowners are tight lipped. Recently saw the obit for a bowhunter in the local paper up there who I heard through the...

    ZTR recommendations

Running an ExMark LaserZ with 72" deck powered by a Kawasaki 27hp liquid cooled engine. Like the liquid cooled for those long days mowing with temps above 90.
