Your Best part of the season so far??

Shanking a shot. ;) Things happened really fast and I got caught up in the situation. Glad it was a clean miss as I probably would have regretted killing it.

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

Yarding. Back before we thinned the herd to '70's level population, the deer would "yard" in river bottoms/timbers during the winter, then disperse out into the surrounding ag ground come spring. Spend the summer in fence rows and waterways, yard again the coming winter. Not seeing it to the...

    Rut Action/Movement Reports

Things looked like it’s busting open on the drive home from work. Saw a mature buck cross the road but wasn’t much legal shooting time left. Saw some small buck/doe pairs out in harvested fields. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Retrieving game law

I've had a couple of instances where people wanted to grid search during the rut while I'm hunting. If you don't have a blood trail to follow, the law does not apply, IMO.

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

I pulled a card from a cam this morning after a hunt, hung a stand there yesterday. The cam was hung 9/21. Memory card was full 11/5. If I'd have looked at the card previously I would not have hunted there. Now I know.

    Views From the Stand 2025

Carried a hang on in this afternoon, hung it on an oak on a ridge, saw large acorns on the ground. Scanning around from the tree, saw I set up on a scrape line. Doe came in just before dark and started eating acorns. I’ll be back in the tree for sunrise tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using...

    Retrieving game law

I had a neighbor do the exact same thing. I didn't call them on it figuring to keep things neighborly. The ground sold this past year and I don't know the new owners. Need to walk the fences again.
