Today I came across a couple I've had for maybe 30 years? They aren't your style and I had one snap off at the tree eons ago. Should throw them in the metal scrap pile as I don't trust them. They don't have the aggressive taper threads like the pic you posted.

I can't bring myself to screw into oaks or walnuts or any other tree of value. Even cringe if it is a bow hanger.

Years ago, picked up a couple of heavily discounted apple trees at WalMart or Theisen's. The tree on the right side of the pics is one, second one is farther to the right. The tree on the left is an oak raised from an acorn. Good apple year and not one on the ground under them, all cleaned...

I think that is varietal difference. We've got a couple of apple trees in the orchard like that. Also, 1 of 3 of our pear trees will never drop the fruit. The pears turn into a sugar sack and the hornets have a feast.

Think I used all my 2217 and 2216's for different projects (non-archery) when I went to carbon. :oops:

Years back, I had trail cam pictures all summer of a buck with a festering hole in his back leg. Could see the pus oozing out of the leg. I shot him first shotgun season. Doubt he'd have made the winter. Called the CO and he gave me the option of tagging and keeping the rack or keep hunting...

Who gets the farm subsidy payments? Landowner or tenant? Cash rent I would think the tenant gets that check but maybe can negotiate.

I kind of follow along with that, but it takes two to tango. The doe also has an impact on trophy potential of the offspring. I've heard many wildlife biologists claim that you can't control genetics in the herd.

High grading? Guess I need a definition. I gather in general terms that it is shooting the largest rack buck, those with true trophy potential before they reach it. So it is done before they have maxed out their antlers? Maybe a 3, 4 or 5 year old? Where I get hung up here is that I've...

That type of random behavior keeps me hunting. Might not be as fun if I was to break the code for guaranteed hunts.
