Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

Would the scope ban be on all shoulder held guns during all deer seasons? Scoped AR's during shotgun has me shaking my head. How many bucks do ML hunters kill? 2024 harvest numbers don't tell that, but button and shed bucks made up 1/5 of the male deer harvest, and bucks made up half the total...

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

Death by a thousand cuts: Leasing Technology-cameras, bows, optics, firearms (rifles) EHD Segmentation-ground cut into small rec parcels Food plots with or without comfy blinds Habitat loss-keep seeing dozers clearing ground for row crop High grading Regulations-too many tags, too many seasons...

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

Who registers their bucks with P&Y or B&C? I think that skews data like what was shown, there are a lot of big deer killed that nobody hears about. Yeah, probably fewer truly big deer these days, but there are some out there.

    Buying land in your 20s

Apologies for the slight hijack. Back on point, buying the ground isn't the only cost. Property taxes, liability insurance, maintenance (fences, new well, plots, etc.). I'm sure your mortgage lender will point out some of those costs and maybe add them in.

    Buying land in your 20s

"It must be nice..." Add: "Did you inherit the family farm?" "If I owned land..." "If farmers take subsidies, the land should be open to hunting..." "You don't own the wildlife..." "Years ago, I could..."

Who’s hiring Superintendents in Des Moines?

She has dropped out her Senate bid but tried to clarify that the Ian Roberts issue was not part of her decision to step away. I call BS.

    Greylight blind stand making noise

Under a blind it will last longer than you think. I use it outside a lot and yes, it does degrade, but takes time. I’m guessing the floor is flexing and this might fill the gaps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Greylight blind stand making noise

I was thinking using expanding foam in any gaps between the floor and stand.

    Buying land in your 20s

Seems like local private sales offer some of the best "deals" these days. Do you live in the area you hope to buy in? If so, as you live frugal and save, think about becoming embedded in the local community. Let work colleagues know you are looking if you live in the area you plan to buy in...

Silver and gold - physical, or mining stocks?

Heard 100 acres of floodplain was on the market for one day about a month ago. $1,000/acre is why one day. Shoot, I'd have bought that!! Always hear AFTER the fact.

    Blades is home

I picked up my 2024 Archery buck from the taxidermist last night. I'm of the mindset that you don't pester your taxidermists, let him determine the timeline, didn't constantly text to see where he was with it. He moved shops since I dropped it off, so busy times for both of us. I'm using a...
