Same difference for the purposes of my questions.. Doesn’t gain you anything.

    ground cover

Agreed Skip. The same sod forming traits that work against us for prime habitat, work for us in these situations. Ironic - I'm working hard trying to get fescue to grow in my yard... while killing it everywhere else on the farm..

    Beans and…..

Curious - What are you trying to accomplish by interplanting the two? A couple of things to think about: - Separate fields/plantings are better for yield, and potentially weed control. - How do you get a shot into this mess? If you mow the corn, you also mow the beans. I'd rather have...

By April 15th I have new sprouts already coming up. Personally I wouldn't go past April 1 for middle MO. These new varieties pop up quicker.

Agreed.. I wouldn't attempt without the right inputs. You will not get grain heads, or very little.

Put down 25# of ladino today on about 1.25 acres. Should make a good stand.

Trump Says Zelensky 'Not Ready for Peace' After Oval Office Blowup

Dems and Rhinos met with him ahead of time to coach him on negotiating with Trump. They should hang every one for treason..

That’s fertility removal, not fertility use. Removal is only for the grain itself. The plant itself also uses nutrients to grow..

Very similar needs yes.. About 1# - 1.2# N, K per bushel. But you aren't getting 230 bpa in Milo. Back off to about 100# of each and you're fine. That's what I used and my production was excellent this year, despite the drought. (Milo does extremely well on very little rainfall). I...

The variety I use is from Richardson Seed = RS 230 Hybrid Grain Sorghum. https://missourisouthernseed.com/product/rs215-hybrid-grain-sorghum/ It's a red variety. Welters used to have a similar variety, this one gets about 4'-6' tall. Red varieties have higher tannin levels which keep...

FWIW, I watched a few bucks come out and munch on the heads from time to time. Definitely didn't get larger groups in the winter weather hitting hard like I imagined. However, my neighbor had a good amount of standing beans that had 10-20 deer in them nightly. I suspect that was part of...

    Off the wall idea

I think you have to decide which camp you're in.. Food within cover, or no food in cover so they come out and eat the food where I want them to. Just a thought.. From a habitat standpoint, mixing these in with switchgrass sounds very neat!

February 23rd, 2025 Surprising amount leftover, especially given the area was only 1.5 acres, and the three different single digit cold fronts we've had. Kicking myself for not at least mowing a portion as a "test patch" to see if that nets better use. All in all, not bad for a drill...
