Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

like mentioned in a previous post, the best thing for having more mature buck every year is to have a one buck limit and antler restrictions.

The start of the rut is upon us.

Things really fired up yesterday. After the picture above called my son and told him where he should sit near my house yesterday evening. He hasn't killed a big buck, came close a couple times but never could seal the deal. I've taken my share so I'm letting him get the first opportunity. He...

The start of the rut is upon us.

I was just telling my wife that today is the start of the fall equinox and the buck in hiding will start showing up. An hour later this pic came in.

Silver and gold - physical, or mining stocks?

Markets are always unpredictable. I invest in multiple assets as not to lose as much should markets tank. Land has always been the best choice, but things seem to be going up too fast lately. If the bubble burst (and it will), it may be a good time to be more aggressive after that happens, I...

    Need some advice!

Looks mature, I wouldn't pass on him. Patience, with only 5 years of hunting, sooner or later you will cross paths with a giant! Good luck.

Silver and gold - physical, or mining stocks?

Not a fan of Bitcoin but land was the way to go, now it seems beyond reach.

    Chicken of the woods

Thanks for the info. I have a 2nd one growing that's smaller and it looks pretty orange this morning, do they need to be completely orange?

    Purple paint law

We do in PA but not many landowners do it. I might do some purple markings on a section of the property that I don't go into much since I want it to be a sanctuary. I'm tired of a-holes ripping my signs down and sneaking in, even with Reveal signs warning of cell cams in use!

One buck argument for Troubled states ….

Pa always had a one buck/yr limit and added antler restrictions quite a few years ago. That made a huge difference in mature buck numbers. Back in the day we could only take one deer per year either a doe or a buck, that sucked. I think it's something the mid-west should do.
