I think if you loose party hunting, it's going to affect the deer herd, just not the way the trophy buck hunters would like. From reading through this thread, I get the feeling it's not about Iowa having a healthy deer herd, seems to be more concerns about being able to kill big bucks. Well...
Was refreshing seeing the POTUS not needing a teleprompter to read a speech someone else had written for him. Not trying to shake an invisible person's hand next to him, and didn't need to be escorted off the stage in the right direction. Oh, and no need for Press Secretary to come on later to...
This is my season of choice as of now. I used to get a doe tag for the 1st season, mainly just to be able to hunt, and yes I could party hunt and use my brother's tag if needed and get an any sex tag for late ML. The county eliminated doe tags and made 1st season shotgun buck only, I'll just...
I would have to agree with you. From reading post on here and couple other websites. When folks are talking about managing a healthy deer herd, I get the feeling they're complaining more about not seeing bigger, older bucks. Hence the comments about the orange army's mentality if it's brown...
Natchez flyer I got has several trail cameras on sale. One is marked down to $24. I have a one I got at Walmart a couple years ago for $25 and it works fine for what I need it for.
Should've taken those heated socks for a test run yesterday afternoon. :p My thermometer said it was 11 degrees inside my blind when I got in at 3pm. I left at 5:30 and I don't think I could've sat in a tree stand yesterday for that long. I can see pretty good out of mine, it's only 4' square...
I remember those day too. Toes would get so cold they hurt to even walk. No way my fingers would work or have much feeling in them either. I made my own blinds after we lost a couple places we hunted. The first blind was small and was made to tilt into the back of the truck. The blind I...
The one I saw had anchors, but I'd want to have it on level ground versus and sidehill. I just know how top heavy they are unless maybe you put a lot of weight in the bottom?
Not that I agree or disagree, but you need to look at the farmer's view also. I'm a hunter, not a farmer who owns land, or a farmer who pays cash rent and doesn't like crop damage.
First time in 51 years I’m not hunting 1st season. With the change in tags, I’ll just wait for late muzzle loader to hunt. Seeing a good number of deer last time checked the camera, so pretty sure I’ll still see dear.
I usually open up my far window and yell or give a few yips. My blind is out in the open on the edge of a hay field, so not a lot of cover. I've scared them off and next time I hunt had deer feeding and laying down 30 yards from the blind.
