I like to mix oats, rye grain, and winter wheat together into one plot. When the oats die, you still have the others. I recommend going higher on the rye and wheat when mixing them.
I agree neighbors are everything. I have found thru the years that good neighbors are EXTREMELY difficult to find if you are chasing old, giants. 99% of the hunters out there can’t hold off a 3 year old 170. So I figure the best option is to find the lowest hunting pressure areas. I will say I...
Decatur has great habitat, but I think it is too heavily hunted. It is very difficult to get good genetic bucks to maturity because of the hunting pressure. Decatur is like Pike County Illinois was in the past. The only difference is the Iowa hunting regs help save it from the exact same path.

I checked into getting some beans sprayed with a drone in southern Iowa this year, but it was too expensive. He wanted more than it was worth to me. I think if more guys do it then prices may drop for seeding and spraying.
I know there are some apps you can get on your phone for this. You put sprayer length, and it shows what you spray as you go. Has anyone tried one of these apps? Like Tractor GPS?
