OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

If there is rampant fraud on the tenant portion of LOT licenses, then how about showing proof of schedule F to register and make you update you're registration yearly.

OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

Removing tenants from the LOT is a crock. The tenant on ag ground is the one that is hurt by wildlife damage. I as a tenant would fight that till I'm blue in the face. And it's not about being able to shoot 3 bucks. I haven't shot a deer in 3 years. It's about being able to hunt more seasons to...

A Straight Walled Gun for my Wife

I know you said you want a bolt action rifle. If you and your wife have a very different length of pull, I would think pretty hard about an AR. Adjustable stock could make a significant difference for shootability for different sized shooters. Also the gas operating action will help with recoil.

    Fencing Deer Movement

I'm guilty of cutting a section of no longer used cattle fence to entice deer to cross there. Also either closing or opening gates can change their route as well.

Thoughts on the cheap tree pullers?

No experience with those, but we have a notch brand tree puller that we have abused the crap out of it and it has been a beast.

    The neighbors farms for sale......

Pretty cut up and hilly for the area. There's a lot of high 80s and 90s csr around here so low 80s is on the lower end of ground here. I farm a 160 that's a 98 csr 8 miles from this farm.

    The neighbors farms for sale......

A farm a couple miles from home no saled a couple weeks ago at auction. 8900 per acre. Low 80s csr and fairly hilly for our part of the country. Wouldn't have been a bad buy.

    Logging Project coming up

You can get swamp white oak acorns from whitewater natives, but I believe you need to order them before fall. I believe they collect what they have orders for instead of just keeping a bunch on hand. I've ordered acorns from them the last 3 years and been happy.

    Party hunting regs- clarification

Agree 100%. I have no problems with party hunting and drives if they follow the rules. Unfortunately a couple groups by me are habitual violators but they never seem to get caught.

    Coyote predation

They are set like you say. The loop should be low enough that a deer's head and neck should go over it so you only have to worry about catching the legs and that is where the stop comes into play. You change the size of loop and how far off of the ground to match the animal you are trying to catch.

Was out Sunday on one of our ponds and caught a load of gills. Had a fun time. Should have taken more pictures.

    Coyote predation

In my younger years I trapped a decent amount. Set snares for raccoons beavers and coyotes. Never once caught a deer. In iowa you have to put a stop on your snares to keep the loop from getting smaller than I think a pop can diameter. That is much bigger than a deer leg, so if a deer starts to...

    MINERAL TO PUT OUT NOW…

I've been using large rubber feed pans but they fill up with water and then deer don't use them so I think I'm going to stop using them and just plan on covering the sites before season.
