I talked with Mercer County Missouri FSA today. They quoted me $136 an acre for new CRP ? I said are you sure? This is 85 CSR bottom ground. She said same rate for everything ? Doesn’t sound accurate ?

Do you guys know of the rates are out yet by county ??

I should have worded that different. Wet soils, low land, pretty flat, drowns out. Really good soils, but might drown out in a wet year.

I just bought a wet crop farm in Minnesota. The plan is to add CRP as soon as possible. I’m guessing rates will be $180-220. Down from $240 .

I think some rent it to control it, hoping prices improve and then they can make a profit ?

The farmers in my area (West Central MN) are still pretty aggressive…Last year a rent auction on irrigated ground went for $411 an acre ? Land prices are up 4% this year, farmers are still trying to rent more ground ? I think it will work itself out .

We were doing pretty well on walleyes in Minnesota, usually 3-6 fish per day (average) . Nice eating size!

If you buy a farm with an IRA, the IRS has restrictions on how much you can use the farm . They don’t like CRP in a Self Directed IRA (at least not in my case they didn’t ) … Farm land & timber are options. I wouldn’t put a blind on it, in case an IRS agent drives by or checks on it … which is...
