Everyone you just mentioned now lives in Iowa and has lived here for a long time. And i would bet money anyone with 5 brain cells would love to have them as neighbors.
I have drones and they definitely work but some cases it would be just as good if not better with a helicopter. For instance if you were flying a giant piece of timber that had bad access I think I’d go with a chopper.
Smaller stuff where you can park near the timber a drone would work great.
Yeah I know, all good. But I do wonder what the states surrounding Iowa look like for groups like Iowa has. Every state that I have friends in always say the exact same thing you’re saying when it comes to deer regs, It just seems like if one state could make one decent change through lobbying...
Oh I know it’s not as simple as snapping your fingers , I’m just curious what it would take ? I just don’t believe there’s anything that can’t possibly be changed. That said, what it might take may be unrealistic and I can understand that.
But does Minnesota have anything like ISC and IBA ?
Since 1950 Iowa has lost 4,315 school districts since 1950.
It’s lost 126,000 farm families since 1950
25% of Iowa land is already owned by nonresidents
Just leaving deer hunting out of it this is already a terrible idea.
What does this bill represent? A complete sellout of the voting...
I was wondering where he made his money.
I’d bet I’ve handled more chemical than anyone on this site but I still agree we need to change a few things to make everything safer for the people that live here. That said, I think if we banned chemicals and went back to organic we’re just trading...
I listened to a decent amount of a podcast with him after seeing this thread. He doesn’t say much that I disagree with, we definitely need to start putting our health and water quality first in Iowa. We made it too easy to grow corn in my opinion.
I was blown away by the number of acres he said...
I’ve been on both sides of this sort of thing, luckily we only burned cornstalks and never anything really expensive, and never too big of an area.
I would call someone who does tree plantings and have them give you a bid on everything that died in that fire. Maybe price the replacement of the...
Harrison county was one of the hardest hit counties in western Iowa and for example it has shot 1350 does since the outbreak in September of 2021. Start thinking about how many deer that 1350 would be, especially if any of those were immune after surviving the outbreak.
I just went out and dug up clumps of little bluestem. Use an air hose to blow the dirt out of the roots and then used 2 part epoxy to hold the roots back together.
On some others I cut the grass off at ground level. Shot some spray foam in a pop bottle and shoved the clump of grass in the bottle...
Sad part is if it takes 5 years to get back to the population we had that means it’ll take an additional 5 years to reach the same number of 5 year olds we had on the landscape.
It’s frustrating looking at the harvest data for 2021-2024 and seeing the number of does that got shot after each...
