    Stephens State Forest

Just wondering how many have heard of the 500 acres the dnr just purchased to add to the state forest. How many have hunted here and it sounds quite large but was wondering if there were a fair amount of places that were hard to access except on foot or by boat? What's the pressure like during...

    How long can you wait?

I agree completely. If I have a nice but walk by that I have to try and convince myself that he's mature enough to harvest he's probably not so he gets a pass. Just knowing that I could've harvested him is satifying enough plus I still have the buck tag which means I can do it all over again...

    Bowhunters are SELFISH!

Orion-why don't you put your money where your mouth is and fork over the money for a pma membership and at least support the site your spouting off on. Go find a Texas hunting site and quit wasting our time like has been mentioned before.

    9&1/4" Bearded Hen

I agree they are crazy. I saw a bearded hen during fourth season and i was setup where they roost so I knew she would come back. Out came a tom and I seriously considered not shooting him because I really wanted the hen. How cool would it be to have a tom and a bearded hen mounted together.

    Tama County Land For Sale

I grew up along the iowa river and the river corridor has plenty of deer. I'm about 45-50 min east of tama and would be willing to help you out and wouldn't mind the travel. If you're only looking for people in the immediate area that's all right but thought I would offer b/c I'm really...

Bucks and Toms in the same day!

Well after a few tough days everything worked out on wednesday morning. Wasn't having much luck monday and tuesday b/c the hens were more attractive than I was. I was set within 100yards of a few toms and too many hens. Like they usually do they flew the opposite direction leaving me to watch...

    Vetran blind hunter tactics

I have to agree with not letting the birds see the decoys from the roost. In the early years I would always sneak in real close and put the decoys up so the birds would see them before they decided where they were going to fly down. Just about the time I thought the hunt was over they would fly...

    Jackhammers

Not trying to hi-jack the thread but I also had a question regarding these heads? When I'm hunting deer I usually slide the rubber o-ring as far back as possible while still allowing it to hold the blades in place. Does anyone else do this to maximize penetration? My bow is set in the low 60's...

    Need some input?

Thanks for the replies I just needed to make a post. In her defense I do have to say she wasn't mad but I was surprised at the comment, plus she's just as excited and impatient as I am for my 2006 buck to come back from the taxi. Everybody have a good week.

    Need some input?

Dear Abby, My girlfriend's birthday is coming up and all i've heard the last few days is how much she wants her windows tinted on her car. So, me being the nice boyfriend i spent my breaks at work on the phone today trying to set up an appointment to secretly get her windows tinted. Well what...

    First doe of 2007

Since it has been slow here lately I thought I'd post a pic of the new years day doe I shot. I pulled myself away from the football games long enough to have a great evening sit. Saw a bunch of deer and missed a few opportunities due to bad timing and too much brush. Then I had this doe along...

    wife swap....massena iowa

Butter and clay is correct! For those that didn't see the show the woman also needed a pair of scissors to trim her arm pits and her legs had more hair on them than most guys. I also thought it was interesting how they mentioned california one or two times when talking about the family from...

    Tips for mounting your bird

If your going to be freezing the bird for awhile you will want to tuck the head back under the wing to prevent freezer burn, i also agree with the freeze dried head, a little more expensive but well worth it
