I talked with a neighbor today that sells seed and he had a customer pulling 280 bushel an acre corn off a sand river bottom farm. There is a lot of crop to haul out of the field for as dry as it was this year.

7 tenths in oskaloosa. Very grateful but my water bill will be over 20,000 this month. I manage the sports complex there. I’m sick of this drought

Not far from gunrunner, one neighbor started running corn the last day of august. Plenty of corn coming out since and some beans started yesterday. Alfalfa has done surprisingly well here this year.

That is one chunky bobcat.
Yeah they can hammer the turkey population. I’ve seen evidence of them taking turkeys off the roost, multiple sets of wings under one tree.
We have one using my wife’s sand horse arena as a litter box this year.

Technology is great when it works. I have an autonomous robot to paint Athletic fields at the sports complex I manage. It’s great when it works and when it doesn’t I want to beat it into a $50,000 pile of rubble
The farmers north of my complex were spraying with drones last year. They had...
Man this is alll area specific. I hunted with a mule deer guide in Nebraska that showed pictures of his buddies cull whitetail he let his nephews and nieces shoot. They were all in the 160 class. Same guys brother had a low 200” whitetail on the wall he showed us.

Flip side, pheasant hunting family ground in central South Dakota with same buddies. Driving a rented suv with New York license plate. Farmer comes driving up on a dirt section road, asks who we are hunting on. Tell him Duenwalds, he says we are going to start combining this corn across the...
Permission piece shotgun 2 nd shotgun. Buddy owns farm to the west overgrown Christmas tree farm, good cover. Farm to east was split by son and nephew of original owner.
Buddy has agreement with son, you hunt my ground 1st season I hunt your ground 2nd. Nephew won’t let us on his ground, all...
IBH if the budget allows line one edge with gravel with an easy slope in. My little water hole is 75 feet from my pond and the deer prefer to drink out of the gravel lined puddle.

Crossbow sprayed on foliage will kill all three , will kill other broad leaf plants too.
Definitely kill it as soon as possible, I only have 22 acres of pasture and timber and it’s a never ending battle killing honey suckle and mfr.

Nice work. Pro tip from an old trapper, liquid smoke is an awesome attraction for coons.
Mini marshmallows and cat food was my go to in dog proofs. Just don’t fill above the trigger

Shed in the little water hole on my farm. I actually built it as part of our cross country course for horses, they ride- jump in and out of water. The deer prefer it to the pond 70 feet away, maybe because it’s shallow and rock lined? I picked up 6 sheds within 100 feet of it this year.

My county board of supervisors (mahaska) last year wanted to lease the county conservation owned land to farmers. They wanted the lease money and where going to charge the property tax rate as well.

I feel blessed that the coyotes in my neighborhood got hammered by dog hunters and mange several years ago. We see more fox than coyotes now which is a good sign.
I have to wonder if all the habitat work Skip and alot of others on here do doesn’t benefit the coyotes as much as the deer. Maybe...
It sounds like you are fighting a bad neighbor not a real houndsman. I have both, the houndsman locked his dog up after one warning, the bad neighbor quit adopting dogs after a couple years of them disappearing.

Pay the banker or pay the tax man is a common opinion in the farming community. This isn’t the 1980’s or 90’s, the farmers that survived have done well the last 10-15 years.
