Breiner11 where are you located at? Just curious because that could be a skewed way of looking at it if your say in Chariton, the heart of the south vs say being in Waukon whom presumably sees giants from NE IA prominently. I would guess if you went to Big River, Safariland, Muchow they see more...
Any appointed position to the top is never good. What is arguably worse is the head of fish and wildlife divisions being appointed like they are now. No longer can they stand ground and say no we’re not doing that. They have to politic and toe the line to a degree or the governor can replace.
So this farm is 180 and connects with a 340 with all of it being low pressure. Bedding cover is not an issue on it. We have taken about 10 acres at a time on tsi over a 5 year period to have different successional growths available thru out a longer periods of time.
It has great young growth...
That's funny because I cannot seem to keep my big deer from summer to fall. The last three out of four I have shot all showed up Oct. 14th, Nov. 16 and the night I killed the other was Dec. 15thish was the first night I knew he was around. My bow deer from two years ago I have 4 years of...
All,
I was hoping some of you could help direct me to some of the better lenders for purchasing property. This would be an all timber stand first time land purchaser. I know Luana is one of them and do a fair amount but, the more options the better. Who's out there and who have you had good...
I think zone 8 is an under valued zone in my opinion. I turkey hunt a fair amount in that non-resident zone I think it looks pretty strong. I don't know a ton about zone 7 but, knowing the topography I would say that if 8 disappoints you then you will just as or if not more be disappointed in 7...
I know it is and I will drive this one all the way to the bottom so there is not an issue in the future. In fact I went got the same firm that won the case I mentioned above with my former employer so I am hoping it is a slam dunk. In hind sight shoulda just bought that 3.7 acres which I could...
We have a easement fight going on right now. We have a piece where the established access has been there since the 1940's between farming and there is an old quarry down in there. The landowner next to use who bought 3.7 acres is trying to play hardball. We have the established access of which...
Anyone have some poses they really like? I am looking for something different and unique if I can. I have semi sneaks, wall pedestals and alert upright.
Don't have room for a floor pedestal unfortunately as I just dropped off a turkey that has that spot ear market. If anyone has something cool...
Here is the my LM buck from Tuesday. I did a rough score on him quick but, I will get an exact number this weekend when I am back up there to turn in.
Update: Dropped him off at the taxidermist last night and he scored him for me. I was a little low on my rough score actually which always makes...
The reason I let him walk was I wasn't sure and thought he was 4 so I was hoping he would make one of those magical jumps at 5. I have heard anywhere from 3-6yo and I have asked a bunch of people. I will have to waiting until late October most likely as that is when he showed up last year...
Wi Transplant got me thinking on a deer that I cannot peg. These pictures are from last year and while I didn't pick up his sheds I did let him walk the second to last day of late muzzle because I am that bad at aging and didn't want to make that mistake. I can tell you he looks better on the...
Here is one of my great uncle. I am told it was the second year that deer season was legal in Iowa. I believe that would have been 1955 or 1956? Pretty cool photo and a monster for back in the day when deer were far and few between.
Here is an interesting question. Lets say we had one of those magical summers where one put on one of those crazy jumps like 40-50". It would be very interesting if the next year would they stay about the same with a wash in horn growth from the previous year or would you see another 10-15% jump...
