    Scott Releases???

I am not familiar with the "rope" style. How does that one work?

    Scott Releases???

I have used one since day 1. I love it. As usual, you pay more for it up front, but you will definitely be satisfied. Adjusting the trigger allows for much smoother releases.

    Versatile High Powered Rifle?

I agree totally with the idea about shot placement. But when considering a rifle versatile to handle all of North America's game one has to look past a deer. I have shot 20+ deer with a .243 and never lost one. Elk on the other hand will require a lot more knock down power. Sure you can kill...

    Versatile High Powered Rifle?

I bought a .300 win mag this year. I shot an elk and two deer with it. None of them traveled more than 5 yards after impact. I am really glad I bought this rifle. I would recommend this cartidge. Flat and fast, hits like a truck!

    Hung with own rope

I have to agree with you BJohnson. Hunting is by far the biggest addiction of my life. It will be damn disappointing when I cannot afford to do it any longer. I have a few pieces of good ground to hunt now but they are farmed by older farmers. What will happen when they retire is yet to be...

    Hung with own rope

I hate pour from a glass that is always half empty but in my mind this whole process is inevetible. We have seen it here in South Dakota for pheasants. If you get in the heartland of pheasant country in South Dakota you won't get on a piece of private property for less than $300/day. Don't...

    Wool Socks

What do you guys use to wash your wool socks. Is there any special detergent you use considering that you want to keep them scent free? Do you dry them in the dryer?

    Digital Camera

I am going to buy a good digital camera that I can take with on stand on while rifle hunting. I would like to be able to take good pictures of critters that are a ways away such as 50-100 yards. Is this possible with a small digital camera and if so, how much optical zoom do I need?

    Mule deer???

Are you planning on hunting with a bow or a rifle. If you are hunting with a bow, you are guaranteed a tag. Drawing a tag with a rifle will be tough to do in either of those counties. Good Mule deer and some good whitetails as well. Tons of public ground. What dates are you planning on hunting?

    Original vs Assault

I am looking forward to purchases for next year and am planning on buying a Lone Wolf. Don't know if I should buy the original hang-on or the new smaller assault. Anybody have any experience with both?

    My 2005 Antelope

Did you have him scored officially. He appears to measure better than that from the photo. That is a mounter where I come from.

    thoughts and comments

I second that. I had some negative results with mine. I used the doe too much. I sold mine to Bradsbucks so I supposed he will kill a 180" buck over it.

I don't know about everybody else, but I come here to share stories about whitetails. Not to listen to you brag about yourself. Are you done yet?

    scent dispersion

The reason I asked is because I made the mistake of placing most of my stands to favor a wind out of the north. By that I mean the spot where I expect the deer to be when it presents a shot is north of my stand so at this time my scent is being carried in the opposite direction of the deer. 75%...

    scent dispersion

Does anybody know how far your scent travels from you before it gets to deers level on the ground. Say you are 15-20 feet in a tree. Theoretically, won't your scent travel over the deers nose?

    rain showers

I know many of you have suggested hunting after rain because the animals have been holed up during the showers. What if the rain subsides at 10:00 a.m. Do you hunt right then or do you still wait for late afternoon. It is suppose to rain on sunday in my neck of the woods, that is why I am...

    Doe Harvest During the Rut

What do you guys do? Do you keep harvesting does during the pre-rut or do you focus on just harvesting a buck during this time? Do you think harvesting does during this time could have any effect on your hunt as far as harvesting a buck?

    New high power

Though I have not yet hunted deer with it. The .300 win mag I bought sure did the trick on my recent Elk hunt. Check out the ballistics on one of those. You will like the rifle. I am planning on shooting deer with it this year as well.

    Expandable Heads

I am shooting a 2001 Pearson Spoiler Lite at about 64 lbs with 29 inch Gold Tips 5575's on there. If I switch to mechanicals, do you think I should increase the poundage to help with the kinetic energy? I originally tuned it down to improve the flight of my Thunderheads which did seem to help.
