    Expandable Heads

I am interested in trying some expandables this year. I have hunted with Thunderheads for 4 years now and think they perform really well. I can get them to group reasonably well but not as tight as my field points. Since 2 inches can be the difference between a single and double lung hit, I...

    Black Hills Spring hunt

Tons of turkeys in the Hills. You will see a lot of birds just driving around. The Southern Hills South of Custer are a lot more open the the central and northern hills. Plenty of birds in either place. As far as camping is concerned. There are plenty of places to camp and you can always...

?? for public land bowhunters *DELETED*

Re: ?? for public land bowhunters Unfortunately, I have found that on public land, what seems appropriate and what actually happens are two completely different things. 200-300 yards seems decent based on experiences that I have had on public land. Only way you can generally assure yourself...

    Gas Prices ?????

$2.89 here in South Dakota. I read on Cnn.com this morning that they expect it to go to $4 gallon. I was lucky enough to draw a cow elk tag in the hills and if gas is much of $3, I think I will roll up my tag and smoke it. I just can't justify it. I could realistically have to make 3 trips...

    New Hunters Lose Interest:

THe one thing that I am concerned about is opportunity at quality hunts. I must say that the opportunity of quality hunting opportunities are few and far between and are getting tougher all the time. When I was a young boy, my dad and I didn't have trouble attaining access to good hunting...

Not to do with iowa... but...

Sounds like you did nothing wrong. You might want to remind this fellow of the law that prevents others from harassing people while partaking in their outdoor activities. Happy hunting.

    Elk loads and bullets

For those of you who have experience hunting elk, I was wondering what kind of bullets you have had good luck with. Do I want the bullet to stay in the animal so I am sure it absorbs all of the engergy or am I looking for a pass through. Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated...

    Packs

I know we have discussed this before and I know that the Badlands pack and the Cabelas CT450 were very popular choices. My question is, I am looking at buying a good pack. I am planning an Elk hunt within a couple of years. I also will be deer hunting in the Black Hills of South dakota and am...

I can read just fine Hc. I have read all of your posts. In fact, I have read all I want to read from you. That is why I have recently clicked on your profile and clicked on ignore this user. Now, at least I can enjoy the site without your repetitive sarcasm and hostility. Later

How many acres have you lost?

Deerslayer 37 and Hcsafari, I have seen your type on this sight before, you won't last long, eventually it seems like your type will get tired of whizzing in the wind. And if you didn't know it, that is exactly what you are doing. Me, I'm done with this pissin match, I think I'll read about...

How many acres have you lost?

As a NR I have stayed clear from this whole saga. I completely support the residents from Iowa because I have some of the same concerns about my residential state of South Dakota. Deerslayer 37, I think you are really missing the boat here. The more NR hunters in Iowa, the more outfitters...

    Blind hunting techniqe's

Last year was my first year turkey hunting with a bow. I had good luck shooting with the windows open. I just made sure that the back side of the blind was closed so no light was shining through. Birds didn't seem to care at all that the blind was there.

    Preferred Drop Away

I also use the trophy-taker shakey hunter. To quiet it down, I found these things that look like little limb savers. You attach them so that they stick up a little above your shelf so the prongs hit that instead of your shelf. Worked great for quieting it down. I need to find a better method...
