According to the chart, last year you would be guaranteed a bow tag with 3 points and a gun tag with one point in zone 4. it is probably fairly consistant year after year.
If people are happy with there hunting ground (maybe be it a barren wasteland with minimal 'natural food sources'), let them have at it!!! Also, if people want to invest their time and $$$$ into planting plots and doing other improvements to their ground to make the deer want to be there, let...
Most of the pics that get passed around on the web are from friends of the hunter who stopped by to see it once it is out of the field. Comments always show up about 'should have taken respectful pics' etc, but I'm sure there were great field photos taken. Great buck!
I planted a few acres of beans last year on July 15, basically just as an experiement. I also planted few acres of 86 day corn. This was in a river bottom field that had been planted earlier in the year, but had flooded and 7/15 was the first opportunity to replant after it had dried out. I...
It worked for us. Or drop several in then drop a piece of hog panel or something similar across them. And stake that in place with some fence stakes. Even if it silts in it should provide a decent base for many years.
My two girls (ages 6 and 7) are showing an interest in shooting bows with me, so I am in the market for 2 youth bows. So if anyone has one (or two) they are ready to pass on, please PM me with what you have and what you would like for it. I am in east central Iowa (Marion).
Thanks!

I contacted my DNR point of contact and he stated they won't be doing a spring distribution of round up ready corn and beans this year through the NWTF. Does anyone know of any other programs or outlets for free or reduced prices for round up ready seed? Please shoot me a PM. Thanks.
Had a WB till I drew on a doe on a really cold, calm day. It sounded like nails on a chalkboard and turned her inside out. Switched to a contained trophy taker the following season.
I attended several spring banquets years ago but quit going. Reason being was the auction drug out waaaaaaay toooooo long. And they didn't draw for the raffles till after the auction. That kept most folks there through the auction (most who don't participate in it anyhow), but for the ones who...
I too doubted it when I saw 7 inches. I agree they look more in the 5 inch range. Can u take a pic of how you are measuring so we can see what you are doing wrong? The mass measurement is the smallest circumference between the burr and the brow tine. Are you measuring the circumference of the...
What a nice buck! Congratulations.
Since he's on the ground, I assume you put a tape to him. I have him at 172 total inches.
