    Ruffle some feathers

I'm going Democrat as well for the following reasons: 1. I'm voting Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it. 2. I’m voting Democrat because the party of “tolerance” accepts me completely, unless, of course, I disagree with them. 3. I’m voting Democrat...

    Metal Fabricator

Does anyone know of a good metal fabricator in the Albia, Ottumwa, Oskaloosa area. I want to elevate some box blinds by building a 8-9 foot tall frame. I thought about a permanent wood platform but the patterns on my farm change yearly due to crop rotation. A portable deal would be better. I...

    HSB 764 Discussion

Guys: As far as I know Iowa is the only state in the union that does not allow a non-resident landowner to hunt deer on his or her own land. 19% of the private land is owned by non-residents. When this bill came together as HS 2184, it was shot down. Then as politicians so often do, they...

    Tick and Chigger Defense?

Boys after reading your posts, I find that it is my duty to tell you of your political uncorrectness. You must no longer refer to Chiggers as Chiggers. They must be called Chee-groes from now on. I'll be watching. JD

    Not a happy camper

Rule of thumb: If the item cannot be broken such as chains, hunks of metal, a tire, trailer hitch, etc, UPS is fine. However, if there is the slightest possibilty that your item can be damaged, send it through the USPS. UPS broke 2 bows and 3 fishing poles of mine over the years and it will...

    Bad Boy Buggies

Bill Winke just got one last week. We compared it to my six wheel Polaris Ranger. The bottom line is they both have good and bad points. The bad boy buggy is super quiet, you can sneak thru the woods and only hear the leaves beneath the tires. It climbs well and has good traction. Very...

Encore and heavy trigger pull ??

I had mine sent off to Mike and he did a great job. He installed a heavier spring to reduce lock time and worked the trigger to 2.5 pounds. He will go to any poundage you feel comfortable with. Well worth the price if you like the Encore.

    right or left handed

Pharmer: I too am left eye dominant and right handed everything else. Actually shot a bow right handed for 8 years and then one day just switched. Go find yourself a cheap left handed recurve with a 40 pound pull. Get real close to a bale of hay and just get the feel of pulling a bow and...

    Hobart in NAW

Nope, as in undergraduate school. Hobart College in upstate NY. I hope you guys got a kick out of my misfortune or should I say stupidity. That episode happened while going to school in Davenport. I just have to laugh. Those were great times in the late 80's. Joe

    Swarovski EL binos

No. No warranty in my name. I just called and spoke with the customer service agent. I told her that this is the 3rd pair of binoculars I bought from their company. She warned me that it could cost more if the coats were not as bad as I said they were. They always seem to prepare you for the...

    Swarovski EL binos

Last year I picked up a pair of 8X30 SLC Habicht binoculars from E-bay. They are the older style but I really like the way they feel. I got them for a good price and immediately sent them to Swarovski for reconditioning. I wanted new coats, strap, eyecups the whole nine yards. I figured it...

Whats your take on fletching color?

Call me crazy but this year I went to an all yellow combination and I swear that at least half a dozen times I was picked up by a doe and I wasn't moving. I could see them coming for quite a distance. My bow was moving in the the wind each time and I think it was the fletching. Research shows...

    Ideas on removing arrow wraps?

Strip all the vanes off of the arrow with a dull blade. Soak the arrow wrap section in Laquer thinner for 10 minutes. Take a paper towel and wipe it right off. You may need to re-soak one more time for cleaner shaft. Laquer thinner won't hurt carbon arrows. I left an A/C/C in there for a...

    IMPUT ABOUT RANGEFINDER

Another thing to consider is the color of the LED readout. I went with the Leica's because it is red. I had the bushnells and in low light conditions I had trouble seeing the numbers. With the Liecas I have never had any problems. I'm not sure what other brands use red LED's.
