    Lost land to lease..

Today while going to move a few tree stands, I drove past a 35 acre property that I have been hunting for the last 7 years. Although the ground is not mine, I had always previously discussed hunting rights with the landowner. This year the landowner moved to Colorado, and at the time I still...

    Doe/Herd Managment

Likewise with your friend. I eat as much of what I kill as possible, whether it be game birds or deer, rather then going to the grocery store for meat. I prefer it alot over what you can buy in the store. I think what I will plan on doing is setting up a new stand on the opposite corner of...

    Doe/Herd Managment

I know that I won't be hunting that stand for quite some time now. Because of that reason. There is 1 other small timber on the property, as well as one adjacent to the property that alot of deer travel to and from. Not that I have an overpopulation issue, but then again I do know that the...

    Doe/Herd Managment

This year I recently gained rights to an excellent piece of property near where I live and have been wondering how many deer I can take off it while still managing a good buck ratio. While going through my trail cam pics in one section of the timber that I have been hunting. I have an enormous...

    One successful first opening day!

Oh also, yesterday in the stand with the old lady, early in the morning about sunrise, witnessed two mature bucks off in the distance flat out GOING AT IT. Very aggressive fighting for about 30-45 minutes. Isn't it quite a bit early for that....????

    One successful first opening day!

Thanks again guys. Definatley gonna be a day that I will remember the rest of my life. In regards to the age, his teeth were pretty beat up and broke in a few places, and he had alot of battle scars around the jaw, eyes and neck area. I've also been told you can tell how old they are by how...

    One successful first opening day!

Well, Wednesday morning I got into the stand at about 5 A.M just because I was that damn eager to go bow hunting for the first time. 3 1/2 hours passed by and I had filled my first anterless tag and first deer I've ever shot with a bow. Went back home and slept half the day away lol. My friend...

    Question on Deer

By no means am I an expert on deer, but I have a question for some of you on possible future growth of a buck. Maybe this is typical of a young deer, maybe hes got some bad genetics. Just wondering if this is a deer I should try to eliminate from my hear come gun season or let him grow a couple...

    Iowa opening day.

Went out this morning. Once it stopped raining it was like someone released a herd of deer. Non stop action for about an hour. Got my first bow kill on a mature doe, went again this evening and saw quite a few more, put a shot on an 8 point at about 715. Hopefully find him tommorow!!!

    What do you think?

Thank you for the advice guys. I do plan on this year being mainly a doe only year for meat, due to the very large amount of does I have seen on the property, unless of course I see a good buck. I have a ton of young bucks (varying from spike to young 6 or 8 point) on camera that seem to have...

    What do you think?

Hey guys new to the site, 1st year bowhunting and have been monitoring my cameras and ground sparingly, had a few bucks I was wondering if some of you might be able to shed some light on. First buck to me looks like he main beams grow straight up, I know pictures can be deceiving, and the second...
