    Food Plots for Newbie

The premium blends usually add a clover or chicory to thier brassicas to allow the deer to have something to eat and get accustom to until a hard frost makes the brassica portion more palletable. Biologic and Tecomate list these products as Annuals, so there really is no deception there. Just...

    Did anyone notice?

I sat in a ground blind last night for 3 hrs and I took my Mr. Heater with me. I've done this a few times and it's never bothered the deer at all and kicks out great heat. It would never work in a tree stand, but those that have ground blinds or even double bulls, it would be an option.

    Antlerless bucks!

I just spoke to my brother up in ND and they have seen several bucks that have already dropped. All my trail cams around central IA still are with antlers, but it looks to be an early shed season.

    Iowa Deer Classics booth

I've been selling seed at the classic for the last 3 yrs now along with about every competitor I know and I can tell you seed does not sale well there. The small 1/4 acre bags tend to do alright, but as everyone else has said, noone wants to carry around even the 8lb bags I have. With that...

    Looking for plot ideas/help!!

If you would like this to be done real easy, I would just hire me. I may be a little more then the farmer, but much less then buying your own equipment. Also depending on weather, if you wait until memorial day, you've just wasted about 4-6 weeks of growing season and prime rainfall. As for the...

Question for you experienced whitetail hunters

It is not uncommen for a few does to cycle as late as January, so yes it is not uncommen to see a buck chasing a doe during either shotgun season. We saw a few last weekend. I guess the point I was going to touch on is what causes a buck to respond to rattling. The more does you have to bucks...

I took a good one yesterday

I was actually sitting on a chair in the cedars with the fenceline in front of me. The terrain dropped down a little beyond the fenceline that lead to the corn field. I knew which way he was going to come from so I set up so that I could let him pass by me and then take the shot. I was actually...

A few of T250's Harvest Photos...

Despite the length of your last 3 posts, this is my first response to all of this. Your pictures prove only that you are very capable with a bow and most likely share the same passion as most of us when it comes to hunting whitetails. It still doesn't excuse your introduction into this site. My...

    Genetics Question...

I'll add a couple more points of interest. Keep in mind these are facts based on the same study we did with Domestic Elk. Doe Size: We found that the cow size in elk was not always an indicator of off-spring potential. Some of our best trophy bull producers came from what we would call smaller...

    Genetics Question...

You are right that genetics is a shared resource from the Buck and Doe. Although most bioligist will tell you it's 50/50, I tend to lean on the doe providing more influence then the buck. Either way, think of it like this. The buck and the doe provide full potential of what the genetics will...
