AWESOME! That is great you have that caliber of deer on their feet in daylight. Now please have your SE deer communicate to the deer in the SW, we need the help (at least I do). All big boys are at night still where I'm at.
Rattled in two spikes last week, nothing this am. Did see a 1 & 2 yr old chase a doe around this am, she wasn't ready, they were just harrassing her. I still don't have any daytime movement on the cam's yet, but it must be getting close.
Been very slow in SW IA, locker shows same thing. I had my first shooter on me at first light today, and I blew it. Big deer, trying to recover. Perfectly planned, poorly executed, thats why they get to be big, I guess.
I haven't been out in a while and plan to spend the next few days in the timber. I have been driving around at dusk lately and haven't seen that many deer, mostly does/fawns. Has anyone been seeing good morning movement? I am anxiously hoping so. I would like to think they are moving more...
Who's heading out for this season? This will be my first year out. Was wondering where everyone plans on setting up? I will be in a transition point in some timber between bed/feed mostly. One other spot is on a hay field en route to some beans. Weather looks decent in the AM, warm in PM...
Very nice! The buck activity has pretty much shut down for me right now. But I know it will flip soon with the crops coming out and cooler temps on the horizon.
I am curious as to what you have been seeing with buck movement. I sat three pm hunts and didn't see a single buck. I hunted one morning and seen two smaller bucks. Meat locker had two real nice youth harvests that were both taken early am. Buddy seen a real nice one first light opening day...
On one small piece I hunt, I can get pics of the same deer from Jun-Dec. The problem is getting in/out without getting busted. It can be tricky so i limit my time in this particular spot. Another thought which many have heard, if a mature buck busts you, he is out of the country. Not so much, it...
Well I wanted to do something different last week so I set out a cam on a good pheasant spot, trying to get some bird pics. I thought I would get some and maybe some small deer and coons. As I walked in, there were no crops this year inside the CRP and hardly any bird tracks. I gave it a week...
Here is my French Britt, Brenda, she's 5 now and I have to give her up due to upcoming move. Breaks my heart already. She is in her prime, but I wanted to ensure she will stay in bird country. Hope to get her out a few more times before we leave.
I've had poor success with these cameras as well. I've heard you have to use Sandisc cards only. I just bought one today to try out. I've pretty much given up, but will try once more. Let us know if you try the new card trick.
I thought he is a 5 1/2 this year but I may be off. The first pic (08) He seemed to be a healthy 3 1/2 based on all of the pics I have of him. Last year he had some damage in velvet and bent his right main beam. He looks like he has gone down hill a little this year, so he may be a little older...
Simply amazing! How to you hold your composure: top notch fishing and hunting. I would give my left leg to have a fishery like that close by. Congrats and savor the opportunity.
I've been following this first buck for the last two years. He had some velvet damage last year and when I pulled the card for the first time this summer, this deer shows up. I can't tell if it's the same deer from previous and he has lost his kickers on his g2's or what. His brows look very...
