I have been asking alot of deer hunters lately if they call in their kills. Wow was I shocked! The number of people who are not reporting their kills is pretty high. I report my kills. I think it is a great idea to do so. It's going to help us get a good idea of what we have/don't have out...

I'm not sure how they do their counts. One buddy at work thought they did it from planes. Does anybody have more info on where the DNR gets their baseline data to help them make these decisions? I'm sure it is probably a variety of sources.

Another contributing factor may be that not everyone is calling in their kill. It is a little painful to sit through that boring phone call but well worth it. If they think a bunch of tags are left unfilled in an area where they had a high deer density would they just consider it a low success...

There are so many rumors about this buck as with most big ones when they are harvested by some lucky hunter. I am happy for the kid and hope he doesn't get ruined from this. I would love to here the full story and in due time we all will. Meanwhile, this cold spell has all kinds of deer...

Just to be clear, I only posted a few pictures. I got over 150 pictures from the scrape and I have plenty of does sniffing it but I didn't post a bunch because most people want to see the bucks.
