And i thought i was desperate

Scrape use seemed to pick up just a little. There were new bucks here this week. BUT...my other cams also had more activity than last week. It is that time of year and should be expected.

And i thought i was desperate

Ok here we go. I would like to say in advance that I have no intention of making anyone sick or offending any person. I did this in an attempt to come to some sort of conclusion to the old debate of whether or not a womans used female product would or would not attract deer. The "cotton" is...

And i thought i was desperate

Usually only the younger ones are nudging does around this time of year. The big boys tend to show up late and feed in slowly. As we approach the last week of October here in Iowa things start picking up and big bucks are up more during daylight hours. They will start hitting scrapes pretty hard...

And i thought i was desperate

I am going to have to copyright the pictures before I post them. LOL Any lawyers on here? Gonna need a good attorney too probably! You guys are killing me. I can't believe I'm doing this in the first place but it sure helps to fill the time until deer activity picks up.

And i thought i was desperate

It looks like I may not be able to check the camera until Friday. I was thinking about more name possibilities and I thought maybe "cotton cam" was less offensive than "tampon cam". Any suggestions? This is a ground-breaking expirement here! The camera must have a suitable name! My wife thinks...

    Deer Study Advisory Committee

My Mother-in-law works for a county in Iowa and was sent this email a couple weeks ago. She passed it on to me. You tell me what they are after. Industry Opportunity An e-newsletter that gives members of Iowa's tourism industry a chance to take advantage of a variety of leads. Friday...

And i thought i was desperate

OK guys and gals. The trap has been set. I set it up in front of a camera that I have been getting good bucks working a scrape. I think this test needs to be done on mature deer so I am sacrificing one of my hotspots so we can either prove or disprove this rumor once and for all! I have a giant...

And i thought i was desperate

Trailcam! Excellent idea! We may be in luck boys. My wife mentioned cramps today. Tuesday I am checking my cams. I'll bet she lets me take one. I'll be the guinea pig! LOL I will set it up on Tuesday and probably won't check it for a week. I'm working now so I'm gonna call her and see what she...

    6x6 Bull

Hey all I just got back from an elk hunt in New Mexico. I killed this bull at 10 yards only 2 1/2 hours into the first morning. Sometimes even a flat-lander from Iowa can get lucky out west! It was a hunt I will never forget! He scores 332 1/2 and he is 50 inches wide.

    The Contender

Some of you might remember this buck from last month. He is something special. I have a little history with this guy and hope to catch up with him this fall. The first pic is from July 6th. The second and 3rd pics are from August 3rd. I am obsessed with this buck.

    This years victim

Yes he is a ten. Last year he had pretty tall tines too so I am interested to see what he grows into this year. His mass made a good jump and he is a little wider too.

    This years victim

This will be the second year I have hunted this buck. I was sooo close last year. This year we have been playing chess with the trail cameras and I located him again. Can't wait to see him fully grown. This pic was from July 6th.
