I have seen them before but this year i have been seeing a ton of them. I work on air conditioners and its getting pretty rare to not see them when i open up the electrical compartment. They are supposedly pretty harmless. But they can screw up a contactor in an a/c unit. Not sure why they are...
Two years ago my cousin planted some beans on the 5th of July and they went over 40 bpa. You have some time yet. Broadcast some rye into them just before they drop there leaves and you will have plenty for them to eat. Plus an early turkey plot in the spring and some green manure to boot.
Find some local dealers or even farmers, they almost always have left over seed that they are happy to give away. I'm in clinton co. if you are close I could help you out.
My bean plot went in today (thanks Shrek) after discing up the 4 foot tall turnips for the second time this spring. Now I could use a good rain. I have a few bags of rr beans left over if anyone wants them, i'm in DeWitt they're free for the taking. I have a couple bags of corn too but I don't...
This is from Welters.
Little Bluestem is a native bunch grass that spreads by seed and underground tillers. It grows 3 to 5 feet tall with roots 5 to 8 feet deep. It has finer leaves than Big Bluestem and is more drought tolerant. At one time it was the most widely distributed grass in...
Just got a Theisen's ad in the mail and they have Cropsmart 41% 2.5 Gal for 32.99. Thats cheaper than it was 3 years ago before they jacked the prices up. At least something is getting cheaper.

Heres another one for you critter. Price is right, you could probabley just take a couple rows off of it to make it work.
We have some in the quail program on my dads farm, and there is also some general crp. The stuff in the quail program had to be continuous, you couldn't have a patch here and there. The payment on it was much better than the general crp, but you are not supposed to drive on it so we made our...
I was actually thinking of doing that next year after late ml. Its kind of too late for me this year, drifts are a little big now and I don't have chains on the tractor. Sheds in tires suck, we've had it happen twice in the last few years.
Sock liners have helped me also in the last couple years. I have a few pairs and they all work good, even the $3 pair from Theisens. My feet sweat a lot and I think that has been my main problem for cold feet. I also got a boot dryer for xmas and am liking that also. Drying them out seems to...
I seen a ton Sunday night. Don't think another deer could have fit in my acre bean plot. Over a dozen bucks but nothing over 130. I wish I could put about 5 acres into beans. They hit them every night, just not the right ones. Hopefully the keep coming into our picked corn.
I've got a pair of Zeiss 10x40 for the truck/scouting and some 8x32 for the stand. Love them bothe. The 8x32 are very good in low light and are small enough to fit in my coat pocket. I'm not big on compacts.
Do you think it would be at all helpful to burn first year nwsg's? A few of the areas I seeded this spring were off to a great start till the foxtail started in, then I kind of lost track of my grasses. I hope they are still there but there is alot of trash from all the mowed foxtail. I was...
I'm glad it quit raining, I've had a hard time trying to keep up with the fox tail in my nwsg's. They started off great but all the rain kept me from getting them mowed when needed. At least I got my brassicas in before the last good rain we got, even though they still look like crap. I planted...
