    Self-reflection

I learned a couple of things about myself today. One - I am way to polite....two - I hate turkeys. Now the story. On the way out of the park today, a troop of turkeys came running towards many making a huge fuss, louder than all hell, breaking branches, cackling, you name it. They were one...

    Meet "The King"

There's a lot of swamp ground in that area that probably doesn't get the same pressure as the field edges, great spots to hole up and grow old.

Anyone seen bucks seeking or chasing yet?

I have watched two decent bucks scent checking a few does. Just walking up to say "How you doing?" then on to the next one.

    All that starts well....

This guy started great but didn't finish very well. He won't make the 135 min. I have to adhere to but I'm on the fence on his age - 4.5/5.5. Last January he ducked my arrow and I hit high in the shoulder. He has lost mass and a 6-8in tine this year. What's your opinion on this deer? Is he...

    Cereal Grains and cover crops

I put 1.5 acres in the ground today. Rye and red clover with 50 lbs of field peas per acre. Forecast had rain but it looks like they pushed any chance back quite a few days. Subsurface moisture is still great following the rain from monday. Trying to stay positive!

    Brassicas

I planted 3 acres the last two days. A monster storm may have skirted just over the fields but missed town by a few miles. By monster I mean scary....it developed in forty five minutes and dropped a funnel visible from town.

The deer cross the field and shoot through an opening in a six foot chain link fence so its a great funnel get some pictures but its right on top of a public bikepath with plenty of traffic to it was only out for a...
