    Trouble with my Slick Tricks

I have been having good luck with the 100 gr. slick tricks. They group right in there with field points while my old muzzy's are about 4" off. Maybe you can change your fletching to provide more spin. I use the 2 inch blazers with good success.

    Whitetail extravaganza in Dubuque??

This was the first time for me and I was impressed by the size and amount of bone. I wasn't sure if it was a good idea, but I took my wife along. When she saw what the sheds were going for, she asked me why I don't shed hunt more. It would have been nice to meet some fellow IW'ers, but I...

    Ag Census

It took me 30 minutes and all I have is rental ground, timber, and CRP. It would be a real pain for those who actively farm lots of acres.

    Mossy Oak Jacket - TALL

You may want to check Sportsman's Warehouse. They often carry tall sizes, but I am not sure about MOBU.

    Localized Seasons (thoughts, ideas)

I like SGS's idea. This has worked well in Wisconsin in areas that don't need herd reduction as much as we do in NE Iowa. Face it, most guys don't like to eat tag soup. When you give tags away, trophy buck hunters turn in to doe hunters. I know 2 or 3 WI guys that never shot does before...

    special season passes

Shotgun hunters might be more likely to get that last doe during this special season rather than a month later during the special late season. This should mean that less shed bucks will be shot. I personally am happy with the trade-off of getting an extra weekend for late-muzzloader. I would...

    Fuming mad

I had an older style cuddy stolen off my own property this year. It was in a bear box which was bolted to the tree, padlocked shut, and cabled to the tree. I guess if someone wants something bad enough, they will get it. Needless to say, I wasn't happy. At least it was password protected and...

    Governor Non-resident archery tags

So when these "celebrities" advertise their videos as 100% fair chase, is it really 100% fair if they get special tags... just playing devil's advocate

Lone Wolf Stands and climbing sticks

I never thought I would be able to pull it off either, but after trying it, it works great. The key is to allow yourself enough time so you are not rushing or making noise. You will get better with practice too. It is a great feeling when the stand is up and you are ready to go. That buck...

    acorns

We have a good crop here in NE Iowa. I plan on doing some direct seeding this fall and the seed contractor said not to worry about acorn availability.

    Tree Planting done

[ QUOTE ] Looks great Pharmer! My 5 acres of trees are doing great too, except for the red cedars, some of them are turning brown. Wouldn't you know the "trash" trees that most farmers fight to kill would be the stubborn ones! Do you plan on waiting until August to mow around them? I guess they...

    FRUSTRATION

I was thinking the same thing. I have yet to see a buck chasing a doe, other than checking them out and dogging them for 50 yards. I did rattle in a 2 yr old this morning, but no big ones yet. Lots of guys at work have been saying the same thing. There is a ton of standing corn around too...
