    Lack of Motivation

Bow season opens tomorrow at the crack of dawn and to say the least I am finding it very hard to focus on anything other than climbing up in that tree tomorrow morning. Good thing my boss is out of the office today because I am going to struggle to get much accomplished today (as you can tell...

    Morning or evening

I have a hard time passing up morning hunts...opening day or the peek of rut. There is just something about being in a tree as the woods come alive. Birds chirping, squirrels running, deer heading to bed, what more could you ask for? The only down side of the morning hunt that I see is there...

    Opening weekend plans...

No high hopes here. My goal is simply to get out and spend a few hours of peace and quite. I hope to see a few deer but I have no intentions of filling either my buck or doe tags. With two little girls under the age of 4 at home, I am simply looking forward to hearing my own thoughts. Good...

    Fixed Blade....OR Expandabes

I have been more than pleased with g5 Montec. They are solid broadhead that fly true and can be reused after a kill (my experience with muzzy is they are a one shoot broadhead due to thin blades).

    Shooter? Probably not!

Pulled my my card for the last time prior to the start of the season. After flipping through a lot of does, small bucks, and a coyote, I found this one. Nothing overly impressive but it's the biggest I have to date on camera. Humor me with you thoughts, I put him at 3 yrs old...probably not a...

With temps in the high 30's last night and discussion in another thread about chilli (breakfast, lunch or dinner) it got me thinking about one of my favorite meals. Thought it may be interesting see what some of the favorite venison chilli recipes are.

    Rules for Dads with Daughters

As a dad with 2 small girls and 1 on the way, I already dread the days I have to protect them from the boys. Thanks for posting and I am glad to see there are a few others on this site that are overloaded with girls in their homes...yikes.

Where do you hunt in Iowa?

Jackson, Cedar, and Muscatine. All are about 45 min from the QC...its a shame I can't find something closer for those days I can't make the drive.

    Broadheads

I have shot Muzzys for years however I have been extremely disappointed in the strength of the blades, after each kill the blades have had to be tossed in the trash do to bending or breaking. This year I have switched to g5 Montec and although I haven't a chance to test them on a live animal...

    Priorities

My wife and I moved out of state right out of college. After 2 years in Wisconsin and our first little girl on the way, we knew it was now or never. Although it was extremely hard to leave our new friends and a a job I enjoyed very much, not a day goes by that I not 100% convinced this was the...
