    Timber Stand Improvment

If you are going to plant cedars in the pasture area, I'm assuming you want to create a bedding area there. If that is the case, I see no problem with leaving the locusts there. Are there cedars in the area now? If so, I'd just let the locusts and cedars grow naturally, possibly kill any...

    Kansas VS Iowa?

Kansas has larger tracts of land, but it takes larger tracts of land in Kansas to hold the same number of deer compared to IA. Its hard to compare the two, the habitat is just totally different. Kansas is riverbottom cottonwoods, huge cattle pastures with cedar thickets, and some hardwood...

    DSD May have some Competition

Should we use the white garbage bags for decoys then?

    DSD May have some Competition

I usually hunt the wild birds, and leave the ones in the farmer's yard alone.

    DSD May have some Competition

I'm curious if any of the people who think high quality decoys are a waste of money bowhunt for turkeys? I think high quality decoys become really important when you are trying to bring a bird in extra close and have him be totally clueless that the decoys are fake. I've shot plenty of birds...

    Ground Blind

Depends what type of person you are....let me explain. Do you find yourself breaking things often? Seriously, stop and think about that for a few minutes. Some people are just harder on stuff than others. If you are one of those people, buy a double bull. They are the best out there...

    DSD May have some Competition

I have not personally seen one, but from watching the videos they appear to be constructed of thick durable material. Time will tell though. If they hold up well, I'm guessing they will be very popular in a couple years.

    DSD May have some Competition

Worst case scenario you could blow them up at home and carry them out the same as a DSD. I don't own one, just saying you actually have more options with these than you would with a DSD....which I own several of.

Need Deer Liver or Heart... not kidding...

The dog trainers that I know use cow blood. Go to your local locker and ask them what day they kill cattle on. Chances are they will let you stop by with a bucket and fill it up.

    Taxes on Your Farm

If you plan to sell the farm in the future, you could claim the extra expenses as a defered investement election expense and write them off in the future against any capital gain you would have.

    Taxes on Your Farm

I'm certain you could find an accountant that would allow you to claim all the expenses. Doesn't make it right, but I'm sure you could find one. If the extra expenses are a big deal, you should have the tillable acres custom farmed, or possibly even 50/50 crop share.

    Taxes on Your Farm

...I'm not an accountant. You'd be money ahead to spend a couple hundred and have an accountant prepare your taxes.

    Taxes on Your Farm

It is limiting your loss because it is a passive income/loss. Short answer...your income is not at risk. The rental income is guaranteed to you. No/less risk so the IRS limits the amount of loss you can have. Have someone custom farm the tillable acres outside of CRP and it will open up more...

    Taxes on Your Farm

Schedule F if you have production risk, otherwise it is rental income. Lots of accountants bend the rules when it comes to farms though.

    Decoy delima

Not sure what you have for hens currently, but I would probably keep your strutter and buy the DSD hens.

    Tresspassers, Thieves, and Shed Poachers

Posting these people's pictures is just awesome! Public humility and shame is much more costly than the fines. What would be great is if we could get them posted somewhere like at the classic to reach the non internet crowd.

Growing more Top Genetic Mature Bucks on your farm

My point was that if you have more mature bucks doing the breeding vs. younger bucks, better genetics will prevail over time because the larger bodied, larger racked dominate bucks will be doing the breeding. The smaller bodied, smaller racked mature bucks will loose out. Everyone is always...
