Because then there would be no point in trying to "stop" it from spreading.
That is exactly why I can't see any reason to be concerned about it. Some of the areas out west first detected it over 30 years ago...and I'm sure it had been there a long time before then. Their deer herds are...
That was WI DNR playbook, and to a lesser extent the IL DNR playbook. Lets hope other states are much smarter. I'd bet about anything I own that CWD had been in those areas for many, many years and had very little affect on the overall deer population.
Bonker,
CWD didn't decimate the deer herd in WI, the WI DNR did. The same thing is true for the CWD counties in IL. This bill is pointless as there is really no practical way to stop the use of mineral. Sure you can write a few tickets, but there is no way people will clean up all the...
For the CP23 has anyone been required to dig out some low areas to build nesting areas for waterfowl? I'm looking at a plan now, and I'm not sure if I like that part of it.
Those are really cool! I'm not sure how long it takes him to make one, but he could sell a bunch of those at an outdoor trade show. How about a deer or turkey?
Well said IowaDave! Unfortunately, we live in a society where too many people think the government is responsible for providing for the people rather than people providing for themselves.
Can someone please tell me when Iowa changed the laws regarding NR LO rights? Just wondering what year that was.
About 3 years ago when they took away antlerless archery tags.
Sligh1 is correct, there are many reasons why this scenario could be true. Too hard to tell for sure without more information. My guess would be that the owner would like to sell his house/land and buy a new house (with or without land). He can sell his primary residence and purchase a new...
I would agree. The deer will just be starting to eat the turnips when the cattle come in and whipe them out. I wold stick with clover or something like winter rye that can withstand heavy grazing presure. Maybe even peas for a good food source that you can hunt for the first half of the...
I've been looking as well, as I was too late with my order. Coldstream is the best price I have found, but they are still double the price of the state nursery. If anyone has any other suggestions, that would be great, otherwise I may just make sure I order early next year.
Cattle can eat too many turnips and get sick, especially bred cows, but in a regulated manner, they are great livestock feed. You will never get them to grow if the cattle are there year round though.
The only way I feel confident aging deer is by trail camera history. Most of the deer that are "native" to my farms have been there for several years and I know if they are 3.5 or 4.5. The ones that show up late season or during the rut are just a guess on how old they are. I won't shoot one...
