That's how they become shooters. very stealthy and cautious. I've had the same thing many times but one I will never forget happened to me 3 years ago on a morning after a rain so no leaf crunching. it was noon and I was taking a seat. I looked down and there stood a beutiful 180 class dark...
I am with you completely. I always picture the bucks as being either freshmen (little spikes), sophomores (forky), juniors(small 6-8 point) or seniors in high school (medium 8-10 pt) and a mature 8+ pointer as a college age to adult. Same with does based on how they react. I always picture the...
All I would say to that is: Have you ever had someone poaching a deer you shot or was watching on your ground and suddenly you have "fellow hunters" getting permission to sit in even though they know you are In there? How would you feel then? Then when you approach the hunter to explain what...
I get the point of the OP totally. I said this In a different thread but the last 3 years Ive seen a totally different set of hunters that darn near turned me off from the sport.
I agree, this would be classic to have watched!!
Last week I had in owl in the tree next to be for the longest time and believe me I was trying to play every "what if" plan in my head.
Well, one never knows. This past sun I sank an arrow fletching deep in one beautiful 10 pt. I knew it was too far back and nearly straight down. Left him overnight only to find a completely bloody arrow and 30 yards of good blood. Searched 8 hours. Still can't stop thinking about it!
Idiot hunters almost ruined bow hunting for me 5 years ago. It seemed Everywhere I went some idiot would seem to walk in even after seeing my truck parked or sit in a stand across the fenceline and start grunting like a freaking idiot. It's the worst experience to go through and I'll never...
It's hit and miss in my experience. Some years I've tried all the above with similar result and then other years It seems to have an opposite effect (where it almost seems to scare bucks off). So I guess I say use them sparingly. Too much and I think smart bucks seem to think somethings not right.
Well guys...no good news to share. I spent 8 plus hours in the timber today looking for him. I found the arrow completely covered in bright red blood, no gut smell. Followed a blood trail only 30 yards long. I bet I walked 10 miles worth today with two guys helping. No dice. I could just duke...
That's what I did, backed out. I waited until dark and left. Dang tough but I agree its for the best. I know the exact point I last saw him and its near a small creek with deep ditches. I'm hoping that's where I find him. He's a nice mainframe 10 and I'd sure be disappointed...thanks for the...
I hit a buck too far back tonight. It was on the bucks left side, not a pass through. After I hit him he ran then trotted to about 65 yards to where I watched him for 10 min. Tail was between legs, somewhat hunched over. Then he slowly walked off. Give me some advice. What are my chances of...
