Ya, I guess one never knows. Not sure why but I can sit in rain all day and be mentally fine and in the game zone. For some reason when it gets over 65 I start getting doubtful and that's a bad habit.
I hope so. I'm hoping someone can tell me a good rut story involving warmer windy weather cause I'm feeling negativity creeping in. Partly because my 10 year old will be out with me for the first time and I have high hopes he sees good movement...
I seem to get dogged by the warm Nov swing every time. I'm planning on sitting hard this weekend through Tuesday and I see warm and windy Sat & Sun and even Monday is now high 50's. Tues looks like cooler with rain so that'll be my high hope day.
Anyone else concerned with this or hit it hard...
If it were me (and keep in mind, looking at a topo and actually seeing the property are so different), this is what I personally would do:
Stand 1 I'd have between the pond on the green painted area
Stand 2 I'd place somewhere in the north end of the timber in the middle of all that crp because...
I go. Covers my scent trail real good and while some say deer don't move in the rain, I have seen many deer then, so I do it. Plus, My first deer killed with a bow came at age 15 during a mist and it had rained two days prior to that non-stop.
Hunting Nw IA sucks. Everyone and their brother hunts there and land is ultra limited and way overhunted. Do like I do and head to a different part off the state and start door knocking there. Sure you may need to drive but that's how I ended up with 80 timber acres to myself. Befriend the land...
