Haha no I don't think they were the 99% club. I live very close to this place so I have driven down there twice tonight and will one more time before I go to bed, just in hopes on catching someone in the act of stealing my treestand. If I do, it is going to be very bad for them. If not it was...
Well I think I may have run into some anti-hunters on my way to the stand tonight for the first time. I participate in a special urban management hunt every year to reduce deer populations in town. Well one of my stands is in a large public park. I got all my stuff on at about 3 p.m. today and...
I have been looking around random places on the internet over the last year and have seen a lot of people ask what to look for when finding a deer funnel, also called a pinch point. While a lot of people answer these people's questions in one way or the other, I very rarely see any pictures...
When I ended up moving the stand after the fall today I was so spooked I put 6 straps on the new ladder and 3 on the stand itself lol. Certainly couldn't hurt.
I was tethered thankfully. The strap was pretty long so I rode the ladder down quite a ways but it caught me when I was about 5 or 6 feet off the ground.
In 9 years of bowhunting, I had my first close call this morning. I was taking my stand down to move to a new location and had some crazy stuff happen. When I loosened the top strap on my ladder, at 20' high, I lost my balance and started to fall backwards. I was still holding onto the top of...
What people need to realize is that scent isn't going to pull in deer every time you put it out, in fact I would go so far as to say that it probably doesn't more times than it does. IMHO it is still worth trying because even if it only works once and brings you in a monster buck, all that money...
I have used quite a few and recently settled with a 7" Octane stabilizer. It's seems to balance my bow well and help with the noise, not to mention it is pretty sharp looking. They are like $50 at Cabela's but sometimes go on sale for less.
I agree, if that buck was going anywhere I think he would have before you got to 50 yards from him. I bet you find him right where you left him in the morning.
Yeah whenever we did it they don't pay much attention, they just looked at us kept on doing what they were doing. I don't see the comparison to shining in my house at midnight. Deer don't have 'houses' and the deer that I'm spotlighting are already in the field and feeding. It's not like I'm...
What kind of setup do you have? Are you on a field edge? A main trail between bedding and feeding? In a pinch point of some kind? Kind of hard to say without knowing your setup. So far it kind of seems to me that the smaller bucks are chasing hard right now but the big boys not so much. If you...
Move it 30 yards closer if possible, then you will be about 30 yards from the location you saw the bucks and 30 yards from your old location, both within reasonable bow range.
Because not everyone can afford a nice trail camera and cheap ones miss a lot of deer and can't monitor a whole field. A spotlight is $15 at K-Mart and you can see first hand what kind of deer are on your property. As long as you aren't harassing or shooting at the animals why shouldn't it be legal?
I haven't heard of any game wardens getting in wild west shoot-outs with poachers. I would think that the biggest risk would be losing your job if you just threw people into the dirt and cuffed them because they MAY be poaching. The fact is that spotlighting without weapons is legal and if...
