And I also think that I could do this exact same thing just by takeing the 20 largest deer that come in to the locker Sunday night of Iowas 1st shotgun season and stack them up and take a couple of pics.
The whole in the vertabraes should be large enough to send some kind of metal rod thru. You should not have to drill anything out. I did a pheasant this way not to long ago that my beetles cleaned, and it turned out really good. It's just keeping them in order if you are going to boil them...
Just cut the deer in thirds first it will make it alot easier on you. Hind legs, Rib and loin area and then the neck and front legs. the front legs are not attached by bone so just cut down through the arm pit area. on the mid section set it on the table so that the back straps are facing up...
I don't have any clue how many youth deer tags are purchased every year but the locker I work at seems to get a good number of deer. So say there is five thousand purchased a couple of those kids are probably going to get a crack off at a trophy buck. I think at that age it is the parents duty...
