    Acorns or Food Plots

I agree with both of you. My most productive stand here in PA is surrounded by a variety of oaks and within 100 yards of the biggest swamp (which is there bedding area) within a few miles. There are 3 of us coming to Iowa. My father, best friend, and I. So we will have a few sets of eyes to help...

    Acorns or Food Plots

I'm heading out for my first ever Iowa trip from Halloween thru Nov 8th. I was planning on hunting scrapes and acorns but so many reports of them falling hard already, I'm concerned.

    How are crops holding up?

My father, best friend, and I drew together as a group. We are going public land. My best friend and I each have 1 year old boys so spending a few thousand $$ extra was not in the cards this time. We are staying in Mount Ayr. So Sand Creek, Mt Ayr WMA, and Ringgold wma are all on our radar. I...

    How are crops holding up?

Thank you all for replies. It seems its so hit and miss from farm to farm because other than passing thunderstorms you guys are thirsty. I hope you all have luck with the rest of the summer. I'll just have to adapt to the feed in the area I'm hunting once I get out to you guys neck of the woods...

    Looking at the oaks

Any update on acorns? Been pretty dry, I know here on the east coast dry summers make for an early drop of acorns and usually helps hold some deer in timber instead of the corn.

    How are crops holding up?

I've been following the state rainfall through the Iowa State University chart. My father and i drew zone 4 after years of waiting for the coveted Iowa tag. My concern is growing with each day worrying about your crops and mast. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated... Thanks all.

    July bucks

Seems like Iowa is extremely hit and miss with the rain this year... looks like I'm going to have to do some extra scouting since I was lucky to draw my zone 4 permit... Goatman I hope you get some heavy rain really soon!!

    Non-Resident Deer Tag lottery results

I think there is a more interest in hunting the Midwest in general. I know many guys that hunt Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois that have finally started to apply for points and hunt Iowa every 4th or 5th year instead of the other states.
