I live in East Central Iowa and we had a ton of pheasants in the fall of 2007 and for a few years before that. I could honestly have the opportunity to limit out every time I went out. I believe the winter of 2007-2008 was way too hard on them and then the floods last summer washed away what...
I would turn your clover plot into a brassica plot for the fall. I planted 2 acres of Imperial Whitetail Winter Greens on my farm this year and they were literally GONE by mid November. I am going to be planting 6-8 acres of brassicas this year.

Well boys... It isn't looking good. Here is the response I recieved from Mr. Herring. It seems that he is ready to throw in the towel and give the rights to the NR landowners. Hopefully the DNR does not gain the ability to control the NR license quotas and all of these other regulations...
I like to scout right now because I walk my entire farm. I go into places that I don't during the hunting season. I like to find those ridges that are torn up with rubs and scrapes that look like a buck was living there this year. I also like to find any new or unknown travel corridors. I...
IMO right now is the best time to scout. I have been out scouting/shed hunting all week and found some great new stand sites. I locate stand sites and trim them right now. Then hang in June and retrim.
With the cost of CIR seed I may just have to wait until this fall and do it the right way as this is a 25-30 acres of river bottom ground. I was just hoping that I would have a shot in the dark at getting it established this year...Thanks for the help.
I have one for you.....So lets say that I have a few areas that I would like to put switch in and I haven't done anything yet to prepare them...Thinking hypothetically here....lol.. What would be my best option. The ground had brome grass and maybe some weeds growing in it last year. Should I...
I was also curious as to how that thing would have enough weight to have the down pressure necessary for it to be a no-till drill and still be light enough for an atv to pull.
Re: Brassicas - December 25th
I planted 1.5 acres of Whitetail Institute Winter Greens and they were all gone by Thanksgiving. I will admit that I do have a high deer density but they hammered them. The only thing left was stems... I am going to plant 4-5 acres of them next year.
