I'd agree with #13. #5 is kinda on the edge, I could deal with it being your land owners tag. Since it's your land and you're only allowed one any sex, you should be able to harvest it any season you'd like.
I think it goes in our favor that the DNR doesn't admit that there are cougars in Iowa. That way when you see one you can shoot them. If they acknowledge that they're here, then they'd be protected.
Not a whole lot you can do. I'm sure some of them arn't there to just look, but at the same time there are probably alot that are. I know that every once in awhile i'll go country cruisin' and all i'll take along is a pair of binos. I'm also just like you though because when I see a truck...
Mark gets his address switched to the address in Grand river about six weeks before archery season opens, atleast that's what he always use to do. Now he bought a house in Osceola so I don't know what his plan of attack is now. Oh and they're hardly ever in Grand River. Just to bow hunt and...
The youth season is a good thing I believe, but it also gets abused in so many ways. Honestly, how much do you think a "190 inch" deer will mean to a ten year old kid when they did no homework to get it. When you're that age a deer is a deer. I think the size of the deer is somthing that should...
I think he looks like a nine or ten. It looks like maybe his g4 on the left side might come off his mainbeam on the inside or somthing funky. Hard to tell, just alittle too far away.
I would say it's very possible. We've had cows get tree branches jammed in their shoulder and they try and pull them out. Don't know why a deer would be any different.
Like previously stated, you cant tell if a deer is tame by how it walks. The guy was "still" hunting and he saw and shot a nice buck. What was he suppose to do, let it walk by just "incase" it was the tame buck? If everything was legal as the DNR says it was, then congrats to him on a nice...
Back40 I don't consider someone that high powers six people in the same catogory as someone who knocks another person to the ground. Bottom line is like said before. We don't know what happened. If the guy jumped on him for no reason or if the CO was being a prick before he introduced himself...
I always aim for the shoulder with a gun. It breaks both shoulder bones and the deer usually just drops. If it takes off it's still the same recovery time as a lung shot, if not quicker. I wouldn't aim for the shoulder on a really long shot though, you'll be taking a chance on poor penatration.

Your scenerio doesn't even make sense. Do you know what entrapment is? I didn't feel like reading this entire post so I dont know if they were on his land or not. If they were and they were trying to "set him up" than i'd say that is entrapment. I'd say serves them right. You can only...
Nice Picture Fanatic, way to shoot em up. It's nice to see a picture were the hunter isn't holding the deers head close to the camera and leaning back as far as possible. I don't even think that I own a harvest picture that wasn't taken out of a truck bed.
