    Is This legal??

From the 2004 Spring Turkey hunting regs: "Shotguns and muzzleloading shotguns 20-gauge or larger may be used with a resident or nonresident combination gun/bow license. You may only have size 4, 5, 6, 7 1/2 or 8 lead or nontoxic shot, or size 2 or 3 nontoxic shot on your person while turkey...

    Iowa Tresspassing Laws

There is a law that protects landowners from being sued for most hunting accidents on their land. I don't recll the name of it at the moment. The exceptions were for dangers that the landowner knew were there, an open well, a mean bull, that type of thing. If a hunter tripped in a gopher hole...

    HF 2086

In regards to the possesion of antlers still attached to the skull plate (i.e. not sheds) this was the DNR policy as of two years ago. It might have changed since then. Deer/Antlers found on PRIVATE PROPERTY: . . " antlers are found on private property, and there is no evidence the deer was...

    POSSESSING GAME AFTER THE SEASON

They way it has always been taught in Hunter Ed here is that it is a law that is used against poachers. The Game Warden usually goes out of his way to say, "we are not looking for people who have some deer in their freezer from last year, we are looking for those who are poaching game year...

Tracking a Deer on to other property

Since there is a difference of opinion on this I decided to look into it further and call the DNR headquarters. I talked to a CO there and asked a few questions. The questions are predicated on the fact that there was a blood trail (i.e. evidence of a hit, not just your word that you have a...

Tracking a Deer on to other property

Copied right out the the deer and turkey regulations. It doesn't look like a gray area to me. It is also the way the DNR teaches it at its hunter Ed instructor classes (at least the one I was at). Whether or not it is the right thing to do is another matter. The CO for Monona county is...

Tracking a Deer on to other property

It is legal to track wounded game onto private property, unarmed, without permission from the landowner. Having proof of a hit (bloodtrail) and having a copy of the regs along wouldn't hurt either as there are plenty of people (landowners and deputies) that don't know the regs.

    Best Digital Camera W/ Color?

I use a TrailMAC digital, it also uses the d-380, the new ones have the d-390. Those cams take pretty good pictures.

Anyone try a TrailMac digital yet?

I have a 2002 TMAC digital and have been extremely happy with it. The new TMAC's have a new feature where it takes pictures at about the speed of a regular film model, I had my 2002 model retro-fitted with that option. It cuts the battery down from 3 months to three weeks, but it works well...

Why can antlers be sold but not meat?

Just a guess but I would say that it is illegal because you are selling food. With all the contamination that is possible with meat, it sounds like safety issue to me. Doesn't meat that is to be sold have to be inspected? It wouldn't be worth the trouble, not to mention the lawsuit if the...

    Value of Antlers

Bowmaker, You are probably right, but I doubt making it illegal now would stop it. I also don't like the idea of making something illegal because some people are abusing it. Punishing law abiding citizens for the illegal acts of others is not something I am for in most cases.

Question for Blind Sow (mt lion question)

Mountains lions are currently an unprotected species. This means they can be shot legally for any reason. If you see one you can shoot it. The DNR would want to see the animal after you shot it to age it, see what it was eating, etc... The legislature had the opportunity to give protection...

    Highlander Digital Camera

The retail price is more than the Highlander ($715 vs. $600), but depending on where you get it, they are about the same. Since I am a TrailMAC dealer and this is not a classifieds board email me at [email protected] and we can talk more about price. If you have any questions please let...

    Highlander Digital Camera

I looked at the highlander digital a few months back. The picture resolution is pretty poor, night pics with the IR flash looked even worse. I got a trailmac digital instead, almost three times the resolution (1600X 1208 compared to 640X480). The batteries lasted 1.5 months even in the cold...

    Question for Blind Sow

You need to get a salvage tag for racks that are still attached to the skull plate. If the GW doesn't think it was taken illegally, a salvage tag can be issued. Road killed deer are first offered to the driver of the car that hit it, if that party doesn't want it, it may be offered to the...
