Dedgeez, is your D55 an IR or the old one with regular flash? I find the D55 has a much slower trigger speed than the M80 and the battery life is not nearly as good. Your thougts?

    Cereal Grains and cover crops

Do you beleive it is necessary to use both oats and winter rye where your deer population is not the same as you have in Iowa? I do not have a huge number of deer that use my property (but will be higing a of trees this winter to help with more cover) so I am not sure it is necessary to plant...

    Edge Feathering and bedding areas

I have a section on my property that forms a gully with ridges on both sides, the bottom of the gully is probably aruond 120-150 feet vertically from the top of the ridges. How do you recommend hinging trees on the slope? Have them fall as gravity takes them or try to angle them so they form a...

    Egyptian Wheat

When do you order your EW and where do your order it from? I want to make sure I have some to plant for screens in some of those fields I spoke with you about the other day via email. Wouldn it be ok to use a drag to cover the seed after it is spread on disced ground?

    Brassicas

On the property my family currently owns, we have several fields we allow the farmer to harvest for hay. He does his last cutting in August, leaving the field pretty short for the fall. I personally would rather the fields be planted to trees or NWSG so that the deer have more bedding areas and...

    Brassica/Turnip Rotation

If I were you I would plant Dbltree's winter rye blend. The clover will help get some N back in the soil and provide great green manure when you disc it up for the brassica plot the following year

    Cereal Grains and cover crops

How mnay acres are the fields you plant the rye mix in? I am going to modify some of the areas on my farm next year. I have one field that is 2 acres that is surrounded by timber. It is half clover/chicory and half brasicas and oats this year. I was thinking of putting it into 3 strips next...

    Brassicas

Congrats on the great buck Paul! I am looking forward to watching the deer on my 160 grow as I implement some of your practices. I was able to harvest a 4.5 yr old 8 point on some other property I hunt. I have watched him over the last two years and finally was able to connect.
